IMO it needed to be something more than a year to give some certainty, both for FG and any signings he hopes to make - a year (as was originally mooted by some) wouldn't have done that.

Absolutely.
Giving some piecemeal contract would have sent the wrong signals out.
Guidolin is now officially the Swans long term manager (if there's such a thing in the Prem), it's his show, his team/squad and his club that on the playing side he will want to structure. |  |

Perfect really. as you say, if he's no good next year not a huge contract to pay off but if he does fantastically well and were overperforming (well ok I doubt we'll win the league or be in contention for top 4) but 10th or above and do well in the cups is a reasonable expectation. |  |
