No passion, no fight 17:12 - Mar 12 with 4521 viewsolympicdale

Not from the boys in blue, they were all magnificent. From the first minute there was absolutely no desire or passion from the bury players, it struggled to feel like a local derby due to the fact there was only one team trying to play. I'd be concerned if I were a bury fan, there was more desire shown by their two 'fans' who got ejected, than the 11 overpaid mercenaries donning the bury tops.

That's enough about them though, you could sense we wanted it more than them. The first half in particular, we managed the game beautifully, had Grant Holt been fit it could have been 5/6. The easiest derby in a while.

Really impressed with NML and McDermott, the former had his best game in a long time, if we can get these two 100% fit they will be great assets, they were always giving the defence a hard time, keeping them on their toes. The big difference appears to be Canavan, he's just got this assured look about how he plays, no nonsense player, one who looks like a proper leader, something we haven't had since Dawson, if he continues this form he is a must to sign in the summer.

On to the biffos! UTD

Michael Rose was awesome today.

An unsung man of the match from me.

Not sure I've seen many worse performances from an away side in over 30 years at Spotland. They were pathetic.

Flitcroft's tactics were very amusing and his comments afterwards on the radio even moreso - he was told pre-season that signing so many strikers might leave him light at the back.

Should Keith Hill ever leave again, today and most of this season are good examples of why his former no.2 shouldn't be considered an option as a possible replacement.

Those players on the pitch today, looked like they didn't want to play for Flitcroft. He should be very worried.

He certainly talks enough number 2, out thought and out fought today.

We were saying this about ourselves after the cup game though. We were shy of a few key players then. The changes of personnel between those two games have transformed the season.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Agree. He's a tactical genius, and the right man for bury. He's OK as a number 2 . Will he keep his job at bury, no sympathy for him if he doesn't as he has had lots of resources to use, but he has not used them to good effect for them (though personally I think he's doing a great job speeding lots of their money they don't really have, and failing).

Yes that cup game could have been a lot worse result, and was a performance lacking in skill, fight, tactics etc, but has been made up for today.

That's why criticism follows those performances. We have watched Hill and his teams long enough to know that we are far better than that. Not criticising would be weird, but on the other hand don't hold back with the praise when it's deserved, like today.

It's one extreme to the other but that's football, things can change from game to game. For the first time all season we are finally finding some consistency, Hill must be pleased with that.

Class from first minute to last.Clarke at the back spent the whole game trying to kick lumps, elbow and trip anyone withing 10 yards of him and how fitting it was his error that lead to a crucial goal.

Hendo's work rate is out of this world, between him NML and Donal they ran them ragged and defended from the front.

In response to OP. You can have all the riches in the world, if you don't know how to spend/manage them, you may as well have none.

Poll: 24/25 season ticket, how many free games would you consider fair?
