Allowing Ayew to go to Sunderland of all clubs is simply mad and would send "negative" signals to some like me. We vce sold and made a profit of JJS yet not replaced him.

£20m isn't that much, given our outgoings on his contract and the fact he would be due all monies as he hasn't asked for a move. We'd do well to keep half of any of that fee if we sold him. We would have to be in a fire sale level financial crisis to let Ayew go now, to a relegation rival or anyone else. I could see the logic if it meant freeing up the money to bring Bony back, or sign a striker of his calibre, but I can't see a player like that signing for us permanently anyway.
I'm pretty sure Ayew will see the season out with us. The summer may be a different matter, as top players do see us as a stepping stone and I'm sure he will have done enough to attract hefty bids from big clubs.
Sunderland now though, even if we were prepared to sell him, why would he want to go there?More likely to get relegated than us and not much of a step up. | | | |
