Eder 11:49 - Jan 26 with 4226 views | JackTheLad | 2 starts, 11 appearances coming from the bench. Hardly had much of a chance has he? Granted he hasn't taken it, but his career statistics paint a story of a much better player. Years Team Apps†(Gls)†2006 Oliveira Hospital 23 (18) 2007—2008 Tourizense 42 (11) 2008—2012 Académica 83 (12) 2012—2015 Braga 60 (26) People bang on about a new striker and I understood why when we insisted on playing Gomis - but Ayew is doing that job now, I'd be happy with AA as our main striker anyway, it seems we have the right manager in Guidolin to get the best out of Eder who came on against Everton and seemed to provide us with more shape and ball retention to see out the match. I no longer think we need to sign another striker, am I alone in this? [Post edited 26 Jan 2016 11:52]

I really think he could pop up with some important goals if a coach went to work on him. He reminds me completely of Adebayor as a player (not just appearance wise).. the way he runs, movement, physicality. I think there's more to come (Fingers crossed)

Eder on 11:58 - Jan 26 with 4158 views | A_Fans_Dad | Maybe not alone, but I disagree. A 15 to 20 goals a year Stirker would make a massive difference to our up front presence and provide far more worry to defenses than our current players, as well as being more likely to add goals.

Not alone no, I am sure Huw and Martin agree with me too

Eder on 12:04 - Jan 26 with 4126 views | Pegojack | Admittedly he hasn't had much of a chance, but he hasn't impressed in the game time he's had. Maybe there's a quality striker in there waiting to come out, but personally I don't want to gamble our Premiership survival on that in our remaining 15 games. EDIT: And if Ayew gets crocked any time soon, we will be right up the Swanny. [Post edited 26 Jan 2016 12:11]

Eder on 12:10 - Jan 26 with 4082 views | Clinton | Not sure what level those teams are, other than Braga. Not seen anything too impressive so far, probably needs time to adjust to the Premier League. We dont have that luxury at the moment. Good question what we do with Ayew if a new striker is bought. Putting him on the wing didnt really work earlier in the season. Ayew did as well as Naismith, who some were calling for, at the weekend. Scored and won a penalty. Probably did more chasing down as well. [Post edited 26 Jan 2016 12:13]

Very poor effort. How could anyone forget the South West Portugal Inter Hospitals Cup Final of 1953 when Luis 'Nobby' Sardinho headed the winner from the halfway line in the third minute of extra time?

I have always thought he'd be a good striker for us if tried (Ayew). Makes financial sense too, fork out £15m plus on a striker or play Ayew.. It's not like we don't have quality players Like Barrow/Montero eager for game time on the wing anyway! I'd be happy if we got a youngster with talent on loan, like Bamford or this Sandro chappy from Barca. That'd see us good I think [Post edited 26 Jan 2016 12:23]

Eder on 12:59 - Jan 26 with 3862 views | jack247 | You can't use stats from the Portuguese league as an argument for playing him in the Premier. There are probably hundreds of strikers who would knock a few in for Braga but aren't good enough for us, they play vastly inferior teams most weeks. Eder hasn't had much game time, but he trains every day and given Gomis' form, would have got a decent chance in the first team if he looked any use. We may well get over the line as we are. If we lose Ayew or Gylfi to injury though, we are relying on players who aren't up to standard to get our goals for the rest of the season. Sign a striker!

Cant go of stats in the non leagues and lower leagues as an argument to playing in the premier league. JAMIE VARDY!

I suppose the same could have been said for Bony, the Eredivisie has plenty of sub-standard or inferior teams to ours. Portugal may not have too many options for striker seeing as they have been playing Nelson Olivera and Eder in recent times, however for a national team as big as portugal to even select them suggests there must be good players in them, somewhere. Realistically, with the players on offer currently in the transfer market, I expect us to sign another striker - but someone along the lines of Zack Clough. I am sure I read that the board say we are interested in Borini - unless we can get him cheap, I am not that keen personally.

I'm not saying players who do well in weaker leagues will necessarily fail here, I'm saying success in Portugal or Holland or wherever isn't much of a guide of how they will do in the Prem. On the Bony example, he would have been playing against teams inferior to us, but better than Vitesse most weeks. Eder must have done something good to get to Braga in the first place, but other than them, I can only think of 3 decent teams in Portugal. He would have had a lot more chances playing for them than he would for us. I'd much rather sign Borini than no one if I'm honest. Never really kicked on from where he was in 2011, but I'd rather bring him on than Gomis or Eder if we are chasing the game. Tend to agree it doesn't look like we will sign a significant striker this window. I'd love the board to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the next few days though.

Too late to get someone in who we can trust to score even a single goal? Really? Lets not forget, any player who can score even one goal will be doing better than Eder. I don't understand why our Prem survival plan would consist of sticking with someone who has a total tally in all competitions of zero.
