Curtis just said that he'd been our player of the year so far and this is why Tabanou hadn't been given any time at all. I know there's not a lot to choose from right now but I nearly spat my coffee over the PC. Surely I'm not the only one who thinks we need more quality...pace, crossing ability etc at left back??
He's not great going forward, but to say that he can't cross the ball is crap.
Have you got a more recent occasion of him doing it? Out of 100 attempts he gets 1 decent cross, i could prob do 1 half decent attempt if you give me 100 balls

Ah, nice try but you've cheated there because you've selectively used a clip which shows Taylor's utterly crap cross being attacked by one of our strikers who has actually scored from it making the utterly crap cross end up looking like a good one. 99 times out a 100, that just doesn't happen because nobody would attack it. However, for balance, if you let the clip run, you'll see that both Arsenal goals came from attacks down our right but would have ended up being Taylor's fault anyway because no blame could possibly be attached to any of our other defenders who clearly did brilliantly.
Taylor is a warrior but sad to see him in the opponents box being so inept.
Surely a professional prem league full back can learn to cross a simple ball.
God only knows what tabanou must have done.
Frankly, I d get him fit and keep him here.
Amazed again to hear radio wales describe his performance as excellent. It seems people have a blindness to some of the welsh players. Looked like a championship player at best today.
With two better full backs and quality striker we should be a comfortable top 10 team. We have plenty of quality in midfield.
If he had given the ball away as much as Rangel today, i'd dread to read this thread.
Steady defending, but depressingly unambitious going forward. It got to the stage where Taylor was taking up some good positions, but Ki and Leon were checking back into the middle rather than use him - they knew there would be no end product. This meant we didn't have a great deal of width because Rangel and Montero weren't clicking either.

Montero plays on the left in front of Taylor. Thought Rangel & Routledge worked ok today. That said, Rangel frustrates me as he plays brilliant one moment then utter gash the next. This happened time and again today... But Taylor is just so, so poor going forward it's ridiculous to be honest... Yes, he is an average defender, but he offers very little if anything going forward.
Oh for gods sake some of you need a reality check. Have you seen the quality of left-backs of the teams we are in a relegation battle with? FFS never seen such an average player come under so much scrutiny. We're not challenging for top six, he's fine. Let's focus on actually passing the ball to each other and remembering how to shoot first.

Why not try Taylor at RB and Tabanou at LB? Taylor seems to be right footed anyway.
Curtis must be protecting Taylor. I have to say he gives 100% for the cause but anybody who thinks he is playing well or he can cross doesn't watch the same game as me. When he does cross he floats the ball into the striker with no pace, and even best header in the world can do nothing with ball like that.
I would say this part of his game has improved a little under Curtis but if I had a pound for every time he turned back in and passed it back to Ashley I would be a millionaire. He needs to be directing a player such as Montero telling him when to have it to feet or when he wants him to look over the top.
Taylor has no quality going forward but at the end of the day he's our left back. Rangel and Naughton are better but not perfect, Williams going forward for corners is a waste of everyone's time and FF hasn't scored in a season and a half either.
What Taylor is is a good defender and a committed footballer who always gets stuck in and always works hard for the cause. Exactly the sort of player we need at the moment and a lot of the stick is unfair IMO
