Rochdale 7 Den Bosche 2, we played very well that night i think ( or was it a day game). It was a rarity because we never played well in those days. It was a result that made the whole of Europe sit up and really put Rochdale on the map.... a bit like Tazzys recent excursion to Europe. Coupled with our relatively recent result in Gibraltar and Gretna we have quite a good record in Europe. We sometimes struggle against the Welsh though but recently won an away tie at The Deva Stadium. The crazy world of Football, domestically we sometimes struggle yet have a decent record in Europe. Anyway I'm rambling now. [Post edited 28 Jul 2015 0:39]

It hasn't .... It's just been a standing joke since the year dot to refer to Chester and their supporters as being Welsh, it winds them up. It's obviously a joke that you have never been in on. When i composed the post I was wondering how long it would take. In fact if I'm not mistaken part of Chesters stadium is actually in Wales. [Post edited 28 Jul 2015 11:18]

I'm sure I remember something about The Deva being in Wales, or part of it being in Wales according to the official 'border'. Could just be a myth!

There was a myth from earlier Dale days, that Paul Williams was the first player ever to commit a foul in one country and be sent of in another during the same game. He was sent off at the Deva Stadium. I think someone at the time eventually explained that the dressing rooms were technically in England but the pitch in Wales. Or summat like that. !!
