Let the doubting begin.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

If Gomis scores 10-12 goals then 5 or 6 from Eder will be a decent enough return.

If he starts next season like he ended the last one then injury permitting Gomis is capable of scoring 20+. Anything close to double figures from Eder as well would be excellent.

So what do you base your assumption on, that you can't see him scoring more than a handful of goals? at least wait till you have seen him in action

A handful of goals as all anyone can expect from a backup striker surely? Idiots everywhere.

At the end of the day we're all whining about something.

I can't really see Eder being anything but a backup. We've got to hope he settles fast but i also can't see him scoring more than a handful of goals. I really hope i'm wrong.

Nélson Oliveira would have been a nice backup but Benfica would have spent the money to acquire what could have been our top target. Austin would have also been a nice HG option.

Eder is a level or two above Oliviera imo.

"Michu, Britton and Williams could have won 3-0 on their own. They wouldn't have required a keeper."

I've read in a few places we're still hoping to sign another striker, and also that Garry hopes to play 2 up front this season so it's still possible there's a huge signing on the way. There's a long time left in the window yet.

That said, welcome Eder! Hope you do well for us.

The only direct quotes from the club that I can remember about Transfer business came from Beattie, and he said that we were basically done.

I'll stick with that.

Would people expect us to spend big on a player better than Sigurdsson?

No but we are stronger in that position than we are up front.
Will be interesting to see if Gomis applies himself properley this time if Eder starts getting selected ahead of him.

Éderzito António Macedo Lopes, apparently. Should satisfy those who wanted a big name

At 6 ft 3 ins, could be the sort of striker we haven't had for quite a while and maybe the sort you'd want to throw on for the last 15 minutes when you're a goal down. Maybe not our tactics of choice but another option is always welcome.

In our 4 seasons since joining the PL our record of signing 'back up' strikers has been quite poor.

2011/12 - Leroy Lita - 2 goals
2012/13 - Itay Shecter - 1 goal
2013/14 - Alvaro Vasquez - 0 goals
2014/15 - Nelson Oliveira - 1 goal

It could be argued that Gomis was signed as back up to Bony but even he struggled until becoming number 1.

Eder has potential and if he chips in with 5/6 goals next season then at least it will be an improvement on what has been a problem position for us.
