I was told before that happy hen wasn't really free range. I have never seen proof, till now. All poultry and eggs should be free range. If people can't afford free range then they shouldn't buy. I happily pay £7.00 for a chicken, its outrageous that there are chickens for £3.00 obviously these are poorly treated. If people can't be veggie then at least have compassionate farming.

Most free range broiler ( meat) chicken productioni is worse than indoor conventional production. Given the 6 week life of a broiler it makes little difference. Egg layers are really better free range but good conventional is fine too.

Who are you to tell people what they should or shouldn't buy? Any instructions on what type of leather shoes they should or shouldn't buy?

Just FYI free range doesn't mean the chickens are running around sunny meadows dropping eggs. They're just not battery hens. Not a lot of difference in it.

Battery cages are not used in the UK any longer. Free range will have outdoor access

They will have limited access to sunlight and movement.

Further, these instructions should be eggsplicit.

I'm all for animals to be treated right, but when it's rearing them for food it should be done as cheaply and efficiently as possible.

No doubt the same people whinging about this sort of thing also kick off about the "cost of living crisis". Well you can't have it both ways.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
