Leicester City V Swansea City match day thread on 17:04 - Apr 18 by londonlisa2001 | dear God - that's two hours of my life I'll never get back. Continuing to watch was similar to the feeling you get when reading a terrible book, or watching a crap film - you know you should just walk away but you can't. The lack of effort from Dyer on that second goal to get to the ball sums up the lack of effort right round the team. He needs to go, I'm afraid (as I've loved him over the years) - for whatever reason he is so far away from what he needs to be it's shocking. His heart just doesn't seem to be in it - perhaps the notoriously stiff clutch on his new car is making his legs too tired for football. Nelson Mandela would have been better up front - we have to get two forwards this summer and three if Bafe goes. Also need two more full backs and a winger. Rangel, brilliant though he's been, is running through treacle and Amat was as I expected him to be - not a full back in a million years. Gylfi was absent again - I know that the position / formation is harder for him, but that doesn't excuse his poor first touch. The season will peter out other than the games against the 'big guns' which the players will lift themselves for. Oh well, if I'd known at the beginning of the season we'd get 50+ points (which I think we will, comfortably) I would have been thrilled. Few players short at the moment for much more than that. |
Can't argue with any of that. I do think that maybe Dyer and Siggy are sulking a little bit though, the Diamond is not getting Siggy the headlines or putting him in the right part of the field to do damage and Nathan isn't technically good enough to function in it. It's been many years since Nathan had a poor season, if at all, i can forgive him dropping off drastically but my sympathy won't last if it runs into next season. I said a few months back that maybe Monk is blooding in this system until we are automatic on it then he will revert to a more Swansea way of playing in the Summer, it's clear that Dyer is a shadow of his former self though and that's a worry. From what i watched today our system was totally nulified and we were crying out for width much earlier in the game. Onto the next one !

Leicester City V Swansea City match day thread on 17:04 - Apr 18 by tomdickharry | What have we learned after that dire performance today,we need to sign at least 2 quality strikers in the summer and retain the services of Gomis.A quality left back and retain the services of Taylor. A quality back up keeper. That's for starters. |
Why do we need three quality strikers when only one of them plays at any one time?

... Nah, I'm not going to answer that one... Sky were right... We were going to be cannon fodder all week Leicester had far too much spirit.. Emnes has never ever created anything since he's been here, he doesn't look up see. Monk is one dimensional and he wasn't a very good player either The diamond doesn't work We've only played 3 decent games all season Finishing 8th isn't important when the football is shyte Although when we're playing well like against Spurs, apparently it's the results that matter. This either means our fans are never happy or You can't please all the people all the time or... There are too many happy clappers.. Thank god there's an election coming up to take our mind off this crappy season. I need a drink. I'm writing before I think now.

I can sort of forgive him playing badly, but not the total lack of effort for their second goal. From the second angle, he is just back on his heels when their player hits it, and that is unforgivable. If he's sulking, then show the manager when he comes on what he can do, don't just stand there which is what he is doing. Siggy - I don't think is fully fit. He's not that far out of position - not enough to be making this sort of impact on his game.

Because if one is out with a hamstring for three weeks (or could be six), one is on the pitch and we have no one to bring on to change the game if necessary. One can be a forward / wider player as well to have some variety or one can be younger, but we do need three I think. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It is more likely that we'll have a winger/striker type capable of playing in two positions. There's not a chance in hell we could keep three quality strikers happy with the amount of game time we could offer them, even if we could afford to have them in the first place.

We get 750K a place and since we hit the 40 we have taken our foot off.

Since we hit 40 (against Burnley) we've played six, won two (Hull, Villa) lost three (Spurs, Liverpool, Leicester) and drawn one (Everton). I don't think that demonstrates taking our foot off the gas personally.

Well we're eighth because we've had superb results throughout the season. It might be worth pointing out to them that's where they might be going wrong.

How much of a financial incentive would they need? Feck me, they all earn far more than any of us. I'm sure if I earned what they do, I wouldn't put myself out for a few extra quid. In fact, earning what I do anyway, I wouldn't put myself out for a few extra quid. No, players have to have pride in their performance and want to be the best they can and if they don't, you get performances like today's. If they're not up for it then they're not up for it and the offer of a bit more money to someone who probably already has more than they will need for the rest of their lives isn't going to make one iota of difference.

I agree with this to a certain extent. In my own job I give some standout performances to get the feedback I need and then give some meh performances once the feedback is banked. Towards the end of my 'season' I become increasingly disinterested once the job is, effectively, done. I don't "earn" 30K per week mind. Or feel obligated to a couple of thousand people that have travelled 200 miles to watch me. I think it stinks to be absolutely honest, whatever lenses are presented in which to view it.

Leicester City V Swansea City match day thread on 18:04 - Apr 18 with 2064 views | exiledclaseboy | I'm sensing far too much angst over a comfortably mid-table club's (with injury and suspension issues) end of season defeat to a team fighting for their lives against relegation. So with that in mind and the fact that I now have a lovely head on and the wife will be home soon, I shall bid you all adieu for now and I hope you all have a lovely evening.
