But now he has a home for the next couple of years and a manager who you would put good money on to get the best out of him. I was underwhelmed when his name was first banded around but now have a funny feeling this could prove a very good signing. Lets all get behind the lad.
Some around me on Tuesday night were not happy when they saw him warming up before the game, I thought he looked just what we were after during the brief spell he had on the pitch....The few doubters had changed their minds after the game.....Big strong and mobile, just what we need......
Becoming rather worried that there's no sign of Muldoon appearing in the friendlies so far. There's been no mention of how serious his groin injury, sustained in Tenerife, might be, or how long his recovery might take.

He said on Twitter he was hoping to be back for the Bury friendly.

So I make that our business so far this summer has been:
Sold
Our leading goalscorer from last season
Signed
A plasterer from non league A CB and CF who have not been rated by the League 2 clubs they've played for, never mind League 1.
No big named signings for me please Keith, I absolutely love it this way.
So I make that our business last summer was:
Sold
Our leading goalscorer from the previous season
Signed
A young player from non-league Hyde, who the club had previously released.
Two players from a relegated club facing bankruptcy and a 22-year-old released by Stoke without having played in a senior game there, plus a 19-year-old central defender loaned from Blackburn.
All five turned out to be key players in the promotion season.
But even so I'm wondering how KH might spin gold from Calvin Andrew.

right.........i must admit i have to double check this when i heard the news.
As someone who lives in Luton i have probably watched Andrew about 20 times play for Luton...a few thoughts.
*muscular player runs a lot, puts in the miles, think George * Needs at least 4 chances for every goal he scores. * A very poor man's Matthew Barnes Homer. * God forbid we have him and George up front. * i imagine he has been bought to hold up the ball, run the channels etc. * If he plays 42 games his season he will get 6 goals (no more)

thing with Andrew (based on Tuesday's cameo), he offers something different to what we've currently got. That gives us flexibility for the season ahead. We'll have real strength up front. He won't play every game, but there'll be games where he's exactly what we'll need.

I think you all know he's crap your trying to like him because you have to trust Keith!! If he couldn't cut it in league2 why will he be any better a step up? Poor signing and for your sake I hope he isn't hogans replacement........ I think I better stick a fiver on him for 1st goal next Saturday after that....

We dont all know he's 'crap' as you so eloquently put it. We know Keith has seen something in him that he likes - Vincenti and Lancashire both got relegated 2 seasons ago with aldershot , they couldn't cut it in lge 2 - then Hilly got hold of them.
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
Rochdale’s newest signing Calvin Andrew spoke to Dale Player after signing a two-year-deal with the club.
The striker hopes he can find a footballing home at Spotland, and says the side’s style of play will suit him.
“I’m very happy to have signed and to be a part of the club going forward and hopefully we can achieve great things together,” said Calvin.
“I’ve been about a little bit in football and I haven’t quite settled at lot of places, but with the two-year-deal and the set of lads that are in there and the Manager, I hope to cement something and find a home here.”
He continued: “The Manager was a major part of me signing here. After talking to him for the last three days I’ve seen that he can get the best out of me. He gives a great environment to want to work in.
“And the way the team plays is another reason why I signed here. They retain the ball very well, there’s some great players with good vision and a good passing ability — that suits me down to the ground.”

Bet he scores more for us that Grimes scored for you.

And, going back four years, we signed Widdowson and Akpro from another relegated team before a previous League 1 campaign.
They made a large contribution to us finishing ninth that season.

Looking at the goalscoring record of his career so far if he plays the same number of games Grimes did for us I wouldn't be so confident.
Hill knows what he is doing, he has proven that regularly. But he has seen something most people have missed here.
Clearly, Andrew is not being signed as Hogan's replacement. He will give you something different, probably for those games (rather like why I assume Flicker gave Platt a deal with us) where Plan A isn't working and a more direct approach is needed.
Be interesting to see how he does, good luck to him, but you can't get away form the fact he has been paid as a forward, often at a level lower than you will be playing at next season, and that goalscoring record (1 in 23 games was it last season, same the year before) is shite.

I remember signing one striker a few years back and he got a proper slating off his previous supporters. He was fat, lazy and had a big arse. Their last game was against Harrogate Town, whilst his was at the World Cup.
