Digestive problems 21:06 - Jul 19 with 4177 views | QuakerJack | Went to Cuba last November, got the sh!ts out there and never been the same since. Get the runs regularly. Had tests, blood and stool, now being referred to a Gastroenterologist. Don't think it's anything sinister as I'm too young and don't really have any other symptoms. IBS is one possibility but, despite the fact that I've had a stool test, I'm still thinking it's a parasite from my trip to Cuba. Anyone else had any similar experiences, particularly following travelling?

Digestive problems on 10:12 - Jul 20 by QuakerJack | Fell ill towards the end of our trip to Cuba, hasn't been the same since. The three main symptoms are diarrhea or extremely soft, flatulence and an urgent need when you have to go to the toilet. I don't really get pain, I long for constipation it's that bad, sorry for the gory details, just hoped I could at least get some idea of what I had if anyone had experienced the same. I think the tests I had have ruled colitis out. I'll check that link for the diagnosis, thanks. , |
Giardia (a protozoan parasite) is another possiblity-especially if your flatulence is eggy/sulphurous. Long term problems are frequent after Campylobacter gastroenteritis especially as it is so common. That sad there are a number of other possibilities and getting checked out is the right thing.

Yeah that's what I actually think it is. It's a parasite isn't it? And they are like that. I'm no fun to be around if you're in a lift.

Digestive problems on 17:04 - Jul 21 with 1240 views | controversial_jack | I had similar a few years ago after visiting Turkey. The squits, bum gas ,feeling bloated and tenderness lost 2 stone in weight. Had tests, endoscope down the gullet, ultrasound , they couldn't find anything wrong. Within a few days it had cleared up and not had it since. All in the mind. Sounds if you have similar Quakerjack. Don't worry, fella, but obviously get the tests done for peace of mind

The funny thing is I've not lost any weight. I've had it for about 9 months and it's off and on. Been fine today but I know by the end of the week it'll be back again. Docs tomorrow at 5 to ask about at least getting the first consultation on the private, just to set the ball rolling.

If it is Giardia then it is treatable with metrinizadole or similar. No drink for a few weeks. Unusual in UK, but not uncommon somewhere like Cuba. Should be diagnosed by stool sample. If post infection IBS it will be more difficult. Good luck and hope it clears up.

Digestive problems on 12:08 - Aug 6 with 1067 views | QuakerJack | Just out of the doctors. The camera goes up this Saturday. Not exactly relishing spending my weekend with a camera rammed up my arris but at least it's a quick turnaround. Opted for sedation, dreading it if I'm honest.

Cheers Dicky... I need to read the paperwork they gave me. There seem to be some tablets in there. I'll have a look at it tonight.

I've had one up the bell end and it's not too bad. Nobody should be worried if they need that done

No, you are wide awake, but apart from a bit of a sting and a feeling of wanting to piss it's not too bad
