My first time this year too, thoroughly looking forward to it!. Maybe not so applicable for you as you said you have a campervan my previous festival experiences have taught me that the most important thing you can take is a folding camping chair! Having somewhere comfortable to sit is a must!

It's not goat curry - it's curried goat.

There's some cracking food on offer there, i highly recommend it.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Nothing like a bit of class envy on planet swans

The only year I had a ticket I crashed the car the night before leaving so unfortunately I've yet to go. I like the eclectic nature of it but I hate what the BBC have done with it - instead of letting the performance develop they play one song then cut to a studio where they talk about it for 10 mins. Maybe it's contractual but I find I can't watch it anymore. Other than that, this years headliners are amongst the most suspect in a long time. It must have been a bit of a coup to get the Stones and Beyonce in the last few years but Metallica, really??!!. If they wanted to make that kind of mega metal band statement it should have been black Sabbath without a doubt, far more appeal to the general music fan I would have thought.

Envy? I'm middle class myself.

I was just stating that it has turned into a festival for those with money.

Luxury tents for £9000 are laughable. There'll be hotels etc there soon enough.

Don't you worry, there's still plenty of west country hippies/druids/stoners who find themselves in there - just head to the Glade or the shangri la at 5am

Just curious who decides what class you are then?

Do you get a certificate or something from the local council?

I don't think there is one person who decides and issues certificates. You just assess your current level of financial stability / poverty level and go from there.

I just had a quick browse on the web and found this;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22000973

These were my results;

"Established middle class

This is the most gregarious and the second wealthiest of all the class groups. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group:

Enjoy a diverse range of cultural activities
Went to university
Are comfortably off, secure and established"

I don't think class is directly related to how much money you have. You're either born with it or you're not. I know plenty of comfortable/wealthy/university educated folk who have absolutely no class. If you strive for it you'll probably never have it, or even recognise what it is.

How can somebody who's never been there decide its a middle class festival?
Capt bruce dickinson made me laugh by calling it bourgois this week, probably based on the fact he's flown over it from bristol airport.

You should try v, cropredy or the "gig in a field" that is isle of wight if you think its middle class, they are like eaton by comparison.

It's so big that of course there's all sorts there, but theres no better class leveller than having a dump in a long drop.

The place is huge, be prepared for a lot of walking. Try get around as much of the place as you can, as there is so much going on.

Fifth one this year. People who slag the festival off are the ones who've never been and just believe what they read in The Daily Mail/Telegraph.

As for Bruce Dickinson, I think I read eFestivals describe it as: "Son of property developers, ex-boarding school pupil & brother of professional show-jumper complains of bourgeois Glastonbury..."

Don't spend all your week at the big four stages or sitting round your campsite, get out there and experience the other side of the festival: Shangri-La, Block 9, The Common, The Greenfields and Arcadia are all part of what puts Glastonbury streets ahead of your Reading & Leeds, V Fest, Download, Isle of Wight's.

Oh yeah, and get yourself down to the Brothers Cider bar on the Wednesday. I'll be the one in a Swans top about 10 pints to the good!

F*ck me according to that I'm "established middle class" too. I must resign my Fabian Society membership immediately.

Fair play, this is spot on. The brothers bar is awesome.

I'm not a fan of the lineup this year, but it just doesn't matter.

The headliners aren't too great this year, although Kasabian do put on a terrific show. 3 bands do not make a festival, it's the plethora of other bands and acts that has got my juices flowing.

Have to say I'm probably most excited about seeing massive attack!

Cleanest and best toilets are up by the circus and cabaret fields. Bit of a trek if you've got the tortoises head but, last time I went there these bogs had not been used and were spotless. Even read the daily glastonbury newspaper in there whilst releasing the kraken.

You won't see everything over the weekend as the place is vast. You'll do a lot of walking so wear decent footwear, if it rains and you really need wellies, Joe Bananas and Millets will sell them and you will need them if it gets very wet. In 2005 it started raining at 4am and did not stop until 1pm the following day. It was torrential and the thunder and lightning seemed to never stop!

Enjoy fella!

Thank you, goodnight and bollocks
