The whole English system is a joke! 22:33 - Jun 19 with 3789 views | 08olesen | What an absolute farce that was! In know way am i blaming the players, they just were not good enough tonight, against a world class finisher. My criticism is due to the fact that Glen Johnson is the only legitimate right back that we could have picked. There is simply no competition. The whole system needs to be changed. isnt it ironic that Balotelli and Suarez were the ones to score against us, both made their name in the prem. We are giving far to many opportunities to foreign players instead of our own. There MUST be a quota of British players for each match day sqaud. Fark the likes of arsenal and Chelsea. The best league in the world should be producing home grown players who can help the national side, and its an absolute joke that there was only one RB and 2 CB that are good enough for consideration. Look at Brazil, they left out Kaka, Coutinho, Marquinos, Sandro, Rafael, Lucas Leiva, just to name a few. Look at how many Germans play in the Budesliga! I promise this has little to do with the result, because we were never gonna win it, but this just cant go on, enough is enough. There must be a quota installed.

Bang on,while the people keep turning up supporting "corporate" days out for the F.A. they'll continue to run the game as they are. Amazing to think how much money they have available in comparison to the worlds top sides.

Not quite sure what the problem is... They cite France '98 as a cLear indication of sponsors influence and yet we've conspired to believe that Gerrard is world class which he is not, p.s. I've said that for years... The guy cannot pass, he fckin hammers the ball at everyone and has no positional sense and fck me canno tackle, yet he waltzes into the England team.... Why? It's a self-congratulating system that produces players in the fact they are English and play for "big teams" Gerrard has been awful for many a year and has not developed but we will never criticise although he is charged with covering and supplying a "world class" forward line...

He's a great player just not very good for England like many a Liverpool player in the past. Our first season back in the Premier League I thought he was the best player I saw a LR that year without doubt. Ironically we beat them in the last 10 minutes

The whole English system is a joke! on 00:30 - Jun 20 with 2479 views | MrSheen | Some things can be fixed easily, but they will take a lot of time. Small sided games on good surfaces (eg Futsal). Positional rotation and keep the mad dads and win at all cost coaches away. I know a lot of people instinctively hate the idea of limiting competition, but prioritising it at a young age means you end up with negative hoofball, no encouragement of skill and teams full of September and October babies as they are the most developed at younger age groups so get all the attention. We don't need quotas. Clubs already pay well over the odds for English talent. The problem is that there is too little of it.

This 100% nice hair cut , nice man, dull as anything, yep that fits the bill within the FA a bloke who finishes bottom half with WBA is supposed to take the country forward ? I don't understand why Woy is getting away with last night, his tactics were terrible we were so exposed in the midfield its untrue, 4-3-3 is what we should have played its criminal that you got Glen Hoddle in the studio and woy falling asleep on the England Bench the FA need to get in Hoddle now and also appoint Eddie Howe, Karl Robinson & paul clement to help with coaching with a view to maybe getting the top job players will relate to these guys , maybe improve as international footballers we have the players Hart Cahill Shaw Ox Walcott Barkley Stones Sturridge Wellbeck Lallana Sterling Wiltshire are you telling me those players wouldn't improve under Hoddle & co

Spot on, been banging the same drum for years, our system is light years away from producing players that can consistently be looked upon as good international class let alone world class and to win the WC & EC it is certainly helpful to have the former and a god send the latter. Coruption is endemic in our game, not the Blatter brown envolope type but the complete lack of professional skills that many of our coaches, players , managers & club owners are severly lacking, you can also add to a certain extent the fans to a list that except such low standards as a perameter for playing a professional sport at a high and very very lucrative level. I don't blame the players, they are what is produced from professional clubs, not their fault they are not given the correct skills to compete on a level playing field at the highest level, the coaching of youngsters in this country is a complete joke, there was hardly a move where the England players had complete control of the situation, competent control of the ball is a basic, our kids are taught how to run with the ball at 100mph and not much else, passing the ball between our players is a lottery, many times the ball was bouncing off shins, knees the torso, but hardly ever was the player in a position where they had such a control of the ball the opposing team were worried just where the pass might go, the Uraguyian midfield just pressed constantly, knowing there was a high probability the England player would not have the ability to keep possesion. Poor players go onto make managers, they inturn keep the same system rolling, dross employing dross, the massive intake of foreign players to key positions in the Prem league should be an embarrasment to us, a country where the money in the game is astronomical, the facilities should be of an excellent standard, yet we produce players that shine a little when playing cart horse games as youngsters, are elevated as the pick of our youth to go on and represent our country, they have no chance, a few will beat the 'system' but are soon put back to the level that has been so nonsical for years, the young players Hodgson elevated to the first team have shown glimpses of skill but they are no where near what other countries would find acceptable, stop blaming the players, blame their coaches & managers, thats where the buck should stop.

The whole English system is a joke! on 09:37 - Jun 20 with 2325 views | saxbend | What we need is to loan loads of promising young English players out to Serie A and the Bundesliga to get the experience they need. The English have always been far more hesitant to live and work abroad other than other countries. I suspect it largely has to do with the removal of language learning from our education system. It would balance the EU migration if people were more open to other countries and cultures and it would have the same effect in football. [Post edited 20 Jun 2014 9:38]

The future is already looking brighter with players like Sterling, Barkley, Oxlade Chamberlain, Shaw etc. Relax. We were capable of doing better but on another day we draw or win both those games and look good to qualify, as it is we were found out against moments of class or individual errors and didn;t have much luck. A 38 game season the 'luck' might balance itself out, in tournament football that doesnt happen. Seen a lot more to be positive about in the last 5-6 England games than I have in the previous 5-6 years.

The whole English system is a joke! on 09:47 - Jun 20 with 2284 views | Pommyhoop | Great last paragraph in a good article on the match. Sorry Disco mate its The Guardian..Its got a good sports section tho mate ,honest.. >>>>Don’t blame the players. If blame must be had let us blame instead a top-tier domestic club system that, honourable exceptions aside, produces so little talent, not to mention the vanished green spaces, the vacuum where once was school sport in inner cities. Perhaps also the cosseted sense of undroppable celebrity status around too many of these Premier League players — not to mention the good old Premier League itself, essentially no more than a piece of brilliantly administered staging that crowds out everything at the fringes. So near and yet so very far away: this has been England’s World Cup, one that now looks set to end in an orderly ejection at the earliest stage.<<<<<<< http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/jun/20/steven-gerrard-england-urug

The whole English system is a joke! on 09:49 - Jun 20 with 2277 views | THEBUSH | Imo, Englands problem is, down to bad coaching, similar to our problems at QPR. In both of the WC games, we weren't outplayed, but fell to sucker punches in front of our goal. The golden rule is, don't get caught, one on one, at the back, which we did, resulting in 2 loses. Maybe playing a sweeper at the back, is the answer ?

get what your saying Simmo But its alright having these players who potentially are good but if we cant keep the ball and make simple passes to team mates or make the right runs or even the right tactics then its pointless last nights performance was the same old same old im afraid a few flashes of good play but mostly passing to the opposition, no runs into space, tactically over run in midfield shocking defending etc like I said in my earlier post Greg Dyke needs to have the balls to get rid of dinosaur Woy and get back in Hoddle with Howe, Clement , Robinson in the background have get togethers in jan or Feb just for Training like EL Tel used to do if we don't then I bet you any money come 2 years time in the Euro's we will be saying the same things we have a promising squad we need a pirlo is rooney our best 10 we need less foreign players in the Prem etc etc

We opened up St Georges park just a few years ago. Read about Belgium, Germany, Spain, how they have got to the point they are at now, producing the players they have. It was all from plans that were put in place and implemented 10-15-20 years ago. We are in the first few years of making major changes to our foundations and overhauling the development and coaching of everybody from the kids up to the current academies. If in the mean time we can watch exciting players that are not complete Chelscum cnts, then that is fine by me. You're right Rooney is not good enough, but he and other people that have not performed are on their way out now. And even with the 2nd choice and 3rd rate RB's, an out of form captain and shite number 10, we still came close to getting required results against 2 of the stronger nations in this tournament. I think last night owed more to the mentality of England players than anything else, we looked nervous and like we were feeling the presure right from the off. It's like the players know they have the opportunity to show the world they are not actually that shit and that causes them to freeze up. There was less pressure on a result against Italy and I think that's why we played with more fluency. I would also keep Hodgson too. You can't judge an England manager purely on results at the moment, there is a bigger picture to think about. As everyone above keeps saying. Hodgson is the kind of mananger that will implement things that he won;t benefit from directly, but that England will in 5-10 years. The way he has brought players through in this tournament is exemplary, it was Sterlings 1st ever start against Italy and it didn't seem like we were 'gambling' with a prospect, it felt like Sterling earned his place, same as Barkley, Lallana, etc. People want Harry FFS, can you see Harry down St Georges park doing things that will improve England when he's well past his tenure?? Because I can only see him doing what he does at QPR, which is make the team one that needs to get results because it reflects directly on him as a manager. That's not the answer for England at the moment.

The whole English system is a joke! on 10:19 - Jun 20 with 2203 views | bosh67 | The problem is that the FA are out of date and they are now the small 'special' brother of the Premier League set up. The Premier league set up owns football here, not the FA. The reason everyone beats us is that most of the players on other teams have played in England or play here. They are already better than us and they also know how we play and what our weaknesses are.
