You can always stay on the M1 until junction 24 and take the A50 across to stoke.It is dual carriageway all the way and it is only about 5-10 miles longer. |  | | |

There's roadworks on M6 which you'll probably hit around 5.00pm if you're lucky
It'll be touch and go but you are tight for k.o. I reckon unless the Friday traffic is really, really, really kind to you.
I'd be cautious about parking near the ground as well. They are proper lively with the tickets in the area (industrial estate / retail park)

Contraflow over the therwell viaduct, its still 4 lanes each way but could well add 20 minutes journey time on friday afternoon early evening
also roadworks from where m6 toll joins M6 before the A5 through to stafford so anyone thinking it will be a fast whizz up should allow probably and extra 45 minutes or so |  | | |
