student tickets 19:00 - Apr 13 with 7618 viewsSTEVE1

What a shambles today, they wait until the third last game of the season to ask to see student cards. Nothing on any site to say this is going to happen no steward with any sense approach any potential victims when waiting at the turnstiles. Everybody then had to go to the ticket office to give their season ticket in until they could provide proof in the week .They decide to do this at half term when if you have not already got a student card it will not be possible to get one . Can anybody from the trust raise what have happened today and what bright spark thought this up.

Whenever I got to matches I take my student card with me. It is not hard for students to do and they should have one because they're meant to have them to take their exams.

I have never been asked to show it but I keep it in my purse anyway, it is not hard to pop it in your wallet before you leave just in case they ask. After all, it does state very clearly on all the tickets I have bought that you need your student ID for proof of identity, even if 9 times out of ten they don't bother checking it doesn't harm to keep it on you for that one time they do.

When I was in sixth form I had no card or whatever to show I was still in full time education. I had to get a letter off a senior member of staff to prove to SCFC. I'm not going to carry that around with me.

That is exactly what I got we gave them the letter from the school they photo copied it and that was that they have never needed this student card. So where do we go from here I will go down in the morning and just hope I am talking to somebody you can talk to it would be good if the trust could raise this for us on the way we are being treated by these little Hitlers.

They said they are enforcing it for next season which is fair enough, and given people plenty of notice so they can sort it out. To do it randomly during the 17th game of the season is a joke, especially given it was Hillsborough memorial minute silence today.

Did they enforce U16s and OAPs? They could easily be doing the same thing. Even disabled people!

How are you meant to prove you are a student during a holiday period? I've always wondered how are you meant to prove you are attending uni as a first year student, when the season begins before/two days after the A level results day? Or even sixth form after GCSE results day. You aren't a student at the time of buying the ticket, but intend to be.

Next season I've upgraded to an adult ticket because either I won't be in full time education or at uni but won't be able to make it to each game and the cost of upgrading would be more than the £140 difference for the ST, looking forward to it if they treat student ST holders like crap.

6th formers who aren't provided with a student card can always get an NUS card.
Anyway, surely anyone with a student season ticket had to give evidence they were a student before they bought it I can understand if they were asking for any ID but to ask for student ID cards when as you say not every student has one (although I would bet the majority do) seems a bit silly.

Fair enough if they think they have got a problem that the system is being abused put something in place but communicate this is happening it is not rocket science the old saying they could not run a p-ss up in a brewery could not be more apt.

I would say people probably have been abusing the system as I have bought several student tickets this season and not one was I asked to show student ID when I collected the tickets.

I also got into the Palace end on a £1 'under 16' ticket without being questioned, though my uncle claims that was valid for all concessions.

But don't take it out on every student who the majority are genuine and are your loyal supporters for years to come.

Chap who sits in front of me was asked to prove he is an OAP at the West Brom game. He is 66, looks about 60. He missed the first 15 minutes of the game. He's still mad about what happened.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

This was due to new management apparently. I was with a friend, who happens to be a student as well who didn't have his card on him today so we had to go to the ticket office.

It specifies when purchasing a season ticket that upon collection, it must be shown to prove that you're a student. That is that. The club have made a massive mistake by handing out student tickets to people without this proof. Students have never been told to bring their cards to every game and they shouldn't have to.

We are a joke of a club off the field. This was an awful thing to do. They waited until the turnstiles to notify people to sort this out. They should of made everybody aware prior to the game via email or post, not how they did so.

Agree totally. People should formally complain total shambles totally unprofessional.

If start of match missed should demand official apology and compensation. They cannot behave like this and if they are allowed to they will just carry on.

That is what have always happened but as was said earlier it could be to do with messages on this board in the week and the people running this show have proved in the past they are not the full shilling.

Basically, it was a fckin joke. As the OP said, why the fuk would you leave it till nearly the end of the season to start asking for it? I'm a student, but I don't bring my card because I have never been asked for a student card for the 5 years I've been a student..

I was lucky I had a tidy bloke on the turnstile who let me off and said to bring it next time, which is fair enough, and what they all should have done ! And also they could have have an official warning! Absolute joke

Win, draw or lose.. Jacks are on the booze

Mad that he missed the first 15 minutes or mad that he didn't miss the full 90?

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Tread carefully here. The simple answer for the club is to charge for the seat and remove all concessions.

The even simpler answer would be to validate their eligibility at the start of the season.

Given that we were promised a complete overhaul of the ticketing system, it will be interesting to see what happens next season. Will there be electronic cards giving access, possibly with photo id?

The thing is, all students are required to prove their eligibility at the start of the season when they buy their tickets (I know because I have done so myself).

Surely then they should only need to prove their identity at the turnstyle - i.e. that they are the same person who bought the ticket. I would have thought that any form of photo ID should be acceptable, not just student cards.

Too often the policies of stadco just don't make sense.

Stadco, which the club part owns anyway, would only act in agreement with the club on this. It makes little odds to Stadco who is attending the game.

Someone at the club thought yesterday was a great day to rigorously police ticket use. No warning that ID would be required, nothing. I'd have a fair bit of sympathy for the club on this if they'd given ample warning that they were going to do this, but they simply didn't. It's really rather poor.

Spot on.

But then to send us to the ticket office only to tell us to "bring it next time" is a farce.

This This This

The documented policies may make sense but it seems the staff have no common sense and are working against their own documented policies.

What they are doing is totally our of line with their own terms and conditions, makes no logical sense and they should be brought to book for what they have done to their paying customers who were acting entirely within their rights.

They have no sense of customer service and their sense of entitlement to treat customers in such a way reminds me of the old DSS!
