Swansea Independent : The background to how we work

Our exclusive news on Twitter yesterday came to light this afternoon with the official announcement that Ben Cabango had signed a new contract at the Swans. Excellent news and the constant question on ‘How do we know these things ?’ We really have to put it to bed.

Our numerous sources and you know who you are, will always be kept confidential no matter who they are or where their field of expertise may lay. We will never divulge anyones identity on here or in any forum. No court order, legal reaction to what has been a successful year for the website will ever work. We are covered by a trade union, with access to qualified barristers and our journalistic integrity is always intact. I suppose someone could test that …

Anyway, what a year it has been for the writers on this website, Liam Walters the most dedicated writer we have had since our inception over four years ago. Trystan Bending is another who has a very diligent approach to his features, and those that have read them will be testament to that. Andy Winfield is another reflective contributor, you only have to see his submissions to know his articulate articles are top class. We can’t leave it there either, Anthony Dews and Duncan Johnson have been so helpful by creating some great exclusive pictures for the Indy. And of course there is Gwyn Davies, a more thorough person statistically I’m yet to meet.

When we started this ‘project’ there were a few idiots who think they have the right to abuse, cause stress to our families and contact them stating some disgusting things. Have we ever met them ? No, because they are in the main faceless and anonymous. However, speaking to some of the most respected journalists in football writing over time they too have had the same. The levels as bad as we have had to endure. On that, we will always pursue every one of them and deal with them as we deem appropriate. So, thanks to all of you, the thousands who visit this site every day, those who work very closely with us to bring you exclusive news as we reported yesterday, twenty four hours before Ben was officially announced, and so many more.

Our features on the new ownership group weeks before they were announced officially, and of course there is the recent news we broke on Tyler Morse a week before he joined the Swans board. We really do try to be as accurate as we can, and really the only provocation we get these days from the anonymous comes in the form of jealousy. And isn’t it remarkable that very few actually give us a nod when these things come right. We don’t play chess before we report news on the Swans, we use a very simple intelligence system called 4x4x4. The essence of this model generates the probability of information being right, and of course wrong. We then talk with many of our supporters with their ears to the ground and take it from there.

If you would like to join our team in any regards our number in the UK is 07922 565473. You will be treated in extreme confidence, and as I have done over the last thirty five years or so we strive to enhance our relationship with you. Some of our oldest sources I have known since I started writing books on our club and on radio and tv. You will be under the Indy umbrella confidentially or as you see fit, we will always respect your wishes.

So that leaves us with a final note before we pull up the drawbridge and waking up to one of our most favourite fixtures of the season, Boxing Day football. The Swans take on Queens Park Rangers at the Swansea.com (3pm) the club will be really hoping that the families come out in force, and maybe just reading this inspires you to get along and watch the Swans. There are still a good few thousand tickets left, and there’s Luton Town at home on Sunday as well. We are moving towards the January transfer window and over the next five weeks we will be covering as much as we can on that.

So, to all you of sound mind …

Well, to all of you we wish you a very merry Christmas. See you on Boxing Day.
