At twenty two years of age Myles Peart-Harris is one player who came to the Swans on loan from Brentford with an indifferent history as a professional player. He had merely stroked the starting handle of the pro game, the antithesis of success. He was finding it too hard at times to succeed in such a demanding business.
But that’s all about to change in our opinion.
Not many Swans supporters were that overjoyed when he signed. We disclosed the Swans interest in him way back in early July of this year. You can read that in the link below.
Here ⚽️ Peart-Harris linked to the Swans
Peart-Harris signed for Brentford after being released by Chelsea three and a half years ago. Unfortunately in the midst of covid and well down the first team pecking order he spent most of his time in the B’team. No bad thing, the Brentford academy is well respected. And of course Myles was still a teenager. To get first team experience he went out on a season long loan at Forest Green Rovers for the 2022/23 season. He played in forty seven games that season scoring six goals.
Again upon returning to Brentford he found it difficult to break into the first team. At the start of this year he signed for Portsmouth for the rest of the season. He was injured from time to time, only playing twelve games and scored just two. Portsmouth fans were fifty/ fifty on Peart-Harris and rightly so, his dips in form their biggest complaint. Although he has played in two cup fixtures for the Brentford first team, his arrival at Swansea would be the highest league level he has played at. Along with Zǎn Vipotnik, Florian Bianchini, Eom, Ronald, Franco and Vigouroux he was a gamble. Some gambles pay off, others do not. The roulette wheel won’t always return winnings. At first Myles looked pretty much lost in the Championship, he wasn’t winning any fans and his touch was poor, even when presented with golden opportunities.
However, we have seen a dramatic turn in not only his performance but his confidence as well. Some will relate it to a mere ripple in still water, and reference his downturn in form at Portsmouth. However, Myles is at a better level now with committed coaches and that is having an effect we couldn’t see in August. It takes time. With Bianchini he is making strides.
His stats against Watford this week displayed how more confident he is.
The all round issue is still the potential that the Swans have for promotion or indeed relegation. Myles increased performance stats must be maintained. If they are then these particular figures based on the season so far will change. Many though predict a mid table finish which after fourteen games is very evident.
We have seen another trait that Myles possesses. He doesn’t let negative performances get him down, and he has displayed a real aggression in his play of late. That’s exactly what the Swans need and at this moment in time it’s exactly what they are getting from this young man.
Watch him closely, he deserves the attention.
