Once again Luke Williams confirms another Swansea Independent report
Swansea City take on Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday with an early 12.30pm kick off. The game is sold out for Swansea City fans. One of the current U’s players was of some interest to the Swans, Siriki Dembélé.
In amongst the summer speculation we decided to utilise our contacts with the football agent industry - and our numerous other contacts for our reports on the rumours surrounding linked players. It’s never easy with a critical few who will go to certain lengths at times to disrespect hard work by not only this site, but across the board.
But here is proof again that the internet is a wonderful time stamp.
On that point Luke Williams made mention of current Oxford United player, Siriki Dembélé yesterday. We confidently added to our social media (X) account back in August 1st of the Swans interest, and followed that up with a report on the day of the Wycombe Wanderers League Cup tie. It basically confirmed interest by the Swans in Siriki Dembélé, who was then a Birmingham City player. We even had access to confirm this through two excellent sources (The details away from the interest)
⚽️ We confirm Siriki links with figures
Talking on the Swans interest in the player yesterday, Luke stated, "We weren’t able to reach a deal. I think he is a very good player, a very accomplished player. I can’t tell you what they offered him because I don’t know. We weren’t able to reach a deal. I think is a very good player, a very accomplished player. I can’t tell you what they offered him because I don’t know”
Well, good player or not he hasn’t scored this season nor provided an assist, sounds like just the player for the Swans. Quite simply the Swans wouldn’t go to Birmingham City’s financial demands, believed to be around one and a half million pounds, but that cannot be confirmed. Plus, and most importantly he was asking for far more than the Swans had set their salary range to for new signings.
One website reports that the Swans missed out, another that they will be ‘kicking themselves’ Probably not on the evidence so far. We haven’t received any updates on Siriki as he was left out of the U’s squad for last weekends game away at Sunderland through injury.
More game build up later on the Indy.

Burnley 1 Swansea City 0 : Timid and listless Swans beaten at the death If anyone’s wants proof that shopping for players on low salaries in the Championship doesn’t pay off then it was evidenced today. Despite a very competent back four and keeper the rest of the team was sour and lacked any punch or awareness in controlling a football. Persistently caught offside or tripping over the ball, giving it away or relying on Myles Peart-Harris and a tired Ronald just wasn’t going to work.
