Swans reaction : Luke seems to have run out of answers

Swans head coach, Luke Williams cut a pretty distraught figure for the edited highlights on the official club site. But of course there is a lot more to his interview as you can read below.

That’s here —> ⚽️ Five games without a goal

It wasn’t for the want of trying that the Swans tried and tried again to at least score a goal in their latest fixture at home to Millwall. The game ended in a 1-0 loss in disastrous style, hijacked by the visitors in the ninetieth minute of the game. That said, by that time the game should have been way beyond the Lions. After the game Williams was apologetic, and we could feel his pain, we all went through it. "I’m fed up with not being able to give you answers. I am fed up with not being able to give the fans what they deserve. I really like the group of players a lot, I really do, and I need to support them”

The Jack Army were vociferous throughout the game, loud and continually cheering on their team. Around two hundred and fifty visiting fans were drowned out. Luke responded, "I am with them, I am completely with them. (referring to loud booing on the final whistle) I haven’t got a single negative thing to say about the fans’ reaction, far from it.” He is right of course, over fifteen thousand Swans fans were there and were remarkable in their support. "But yeah, it’s a difficult situation because there doesn’t seem to be a huge amount wrong but there’s a lot wrong at the same time if that makes sense. There is disappointment, not because we have been outplayed, but because we had eighteen shots and barely conceded a shot against us. If we got hammered or couldn’t get a foothold in the game, that would be a different set of emotions. It’s more frustration because we are so close.”

His brief and edited interview is below.

The match highlights are below as well.

Later we have a report from Trystan Bending on the academy, and some options for Luke.

Burnley 1 Swansea City 0 : Timid and listless Swans beaten at the death
If anyone’s wants proof that shopping for players on low salaries in the Championship doesn’t pay off then it was evidenced today. Despite a very competent back four and keeper the rest of the team was sour and lacked any punch or awareness in controlling a football. Persistently caught offside or tripping over the ball, giving it away or relying on Myles Peart-Harris and a tired Ronald just wasn’t going to work.
