Swansea City : The fee, the salary, the settlement, all here this evening

Nathan Wood has agreed to his terms offered by Southampton this afternoon, believed to be rising to twenty five thousand pounds a week. What we need now is some transparency on the actual figures.

You are going to hear all manner of estimates on the actual transfer fee from three million pounds to eight. You will also hear about the Russell Martin legal action being settled within the transfer fee which was pretty much completed this evening. That needs to go to both sides legal teams for signing off. The signing of Nathan Wood by the Saints opened up an opportunity for both clubs decision makers to have some dialogue, and the best we can give you this evening after speaking to a source very close to the situation is a settlement of around four hundred thousand pounds has been agreed.

The transfer fee and settlement are two different agreements.

That aside, Nathan Wood has seen his terms pretty much agreed for his transfer, the twenty two year old will be delighted with his monthly salary rising from around twenty thousand pounds a month at Swansea to around a hundred thousand pounds a month at Southampton. To get this information from a trusted ‘outlet’ who we have worked with before doesn’t really mean a great deal in the bigger picture, but as ever it will stand the test of time as the many thousands who visit our site each day will stand by.

There is a percentage sell on fee, that is yet to be disclosed plus add ons.

The fee will see the Swans clear a five million pounds profit or thereabouts, plus the Russell Martin agreement as stated should hopefully see the search for a striker hot up. Salary savings too will improve. We have already covered that on numerous reports linked to yesterday mornings report.

That’s here —> ⚽️ The reasons why

Savings, an upturn in financial profit and a better commercial platform is now being demanded from Washington. The head of the majority ownership which includes current Chairman, Andrew Coleman are desperate to show a positive performance over the coming months. These latest deals are positive. We can now include Jerry Yates leaving for Derby on loan which is going to leave the club more healthier financially, and far more able to flex more muscle in the transfer market.

The big question now is ‘Will the club actually press on and secure the striker the club clearly needs and a goalkeeper that can make or break the season’ ? We know the club are working hard on this, but with Luke Williams favouring Notts County forward Macaulay Langstaff that needs to be either tied up, or a pretty decent reason for not getting the head coach’s top target. This week is a pretty big one for the Swans, with the club in second place for Langstaff after a Millwall bid last week.

There will be more players moving on over the next month, and one in - Eom Si-Jung expected in Swansea this week. The hard work is starting to make progress. Looking forwards positively is what we are doing at the Indy. We hope you are with us at such a crucial and telling time for the Swans.

That is if season 2024/25 is going to be a success.
