Swans bid turned down by Standard Liege

Belgian club Standard Liege have turned down a bid from Swansea City for the services of Romaine Mundle. He signed for the club from Spurs last summer on a four year contract. To date he has been plagued by injuries and non selection.

@FabrizioRomano was first accredited with news on Romaine Mundle which was picked up by our football writer Trystan Bending. That information we reported right at the start of January.

That’s here —> ⚽️ Romain Mundle linked

With such a long contract only signed seven months ago there has to be some movement on the loan players the Swans already have if that’s their intention. Or it’s possible that Paul Watson senses the Belgian club are unhappy with his progress and they are looking to offload him ? Fabrizio mentions a bid. We do know that todays bid for Mundle has been rejected by Standard Liege, so if the Swans are serious they will have to back it up with further discussions.

Mundle hasn’t started a game for his current club this season, but has come on as a substitute on five occasions in the league, to date no goals or assists have been recorded. The rest of this season has seen him not included in the match day squad or injured. It’s possibly not what Mundle wanted or envisaged but he was brave enough to turn down a new Spurs contract to make the move.

His injuries will be a concern, and of course the Swans want a player with a positive mindset. Interestingly, as we always like to conclude matters, Standard Liege are owned by a private investment company based in Miami. A very similar set up to that of the yet to be explained Swansea investment fund in the USA. The bid for this player is genuine, and it’s the first confirmed bid that’s become evident.

Maybe this is the start of the answers to the many questions Swans fans have regards this current regime ?
