Team News : Southampton v Swansea City’ Boxing Day Latest

The latest news on both sides injury issues before todays game kicks off at St Mary’s Stadium. Both have unsettling news. Full teams at 2pm.

Teams are in !

⚽️ Swansea City: Carl Rushworth, Jay Fulton, Ben Cabango, Matt Grimes (captain), Jerry Yates, Jamal Lowe, Jamie Paterson, Josh Tymon, Liam Cullen, Nathan Wood, Bashir Humphreys.

Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Harry Darling, Joe Allen, Yannick Bolasie, Charlie Patino, Mykola Kuharevich, Kyle Naughton, Liam Walsh, Ollie Cooper.

⚽️ Southampton: Gavin Bazunu, Kyle Walker-Peters, Ryan Manning, Flynn Downes, Jack Stephens (captain), Joe Aribo, Adam Armstrong, Stuart Armstrong, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Sam Edozie, Jan Bednarek.

Substitutes: Joe Lumley, Mason Holgate, Che Adams, Will Smallbone, Sekou Mara, Carlos Alcaraz, Ryan Fraser, Sam Amo-Ameyaw, Tyler Dibling.

The Swans have Nathan Wood back for selection, so with Harry Darling, Ben Cabango and Bashir Humphreys also fit there could be some decisions to make for Alan Sheehan. Josh Key was injured at the Swansea.Com Stadium on Friday night in the 2-1 victory over Preston North End. The Swans have no early diagnosis on the injury as of last night. Joe Allen will undergo some stress tests this morning. The obvious injuries are still in recovery with Josh Ginnelly out, and Azeem Abdulai fifty, fifty. Mykola Kukharevych is an option but hasn’t seen any action since that game on the 18th December when he appeared for the U21 side.

Russell Martin has Kyle Walker-Peters, Jan Bednarek and Taylor Harwood-Bellis available and Ryan Manning will replace the injured James Bree. That’s Flynn Downes and Manning as ex Swans players certain to play today. Oddly Martin applauded the sending off of his substitute Shea Charles at Loftus Road in their 1-0 win on Saturday. Charles isn’t available for selection today. Martin said post match, "I think it's a good foul. There are good fouls in the game and that was one of them. Now he misses out on a game, but I'm never going to criticise someone for taking one for the team."

The Saints are on a fifteen game unbeaten run and still there are supporters really giving Martin some stick. It’s pretty odd. The Swans would take a two game unbeaten run by the end of todays match. Kick off is 3pm.
