Swansea City head north today with injury concerns

The Swans take on Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and beforehand will stay at St George’s Park to ready themselves for the fixture. It seems two more casualties will be added to the injury list, regardless of the ‘hope’ things can get better.

Injuries are the main talking point this week and our columnist Andrew Winfield referenced them this morning in his exacting feature on Swansea City.

Duff options ?

As did the website this week.

Injuries killing the season

In Michael Duff’s own words. " I don’t think we have had a lot of luck this season. The four games that we have won, we have been comfortable winners. I’m not sure we have had loads of luck, even at the weekend we could have had a penalty. We’ve hit the crossbar, so yes, it’s not that we want to be relying on luck but over the season we hope that it evens out”

You have to agree with the Swans head coach, the last two games were luckless. To an extent anyway. There is a feeling the Swans could have shipped four or five goals on Saturday against Leicester ( they didn’t is the point of those who disagree ) And the penalty shout was as obvious as can be, to some, however the referee in these times of a lack of communication between officials and the media hasn’t clarified his standpoint. That leaves fans posing the questions and taking sides on such incidents with little or no guidance as to why they are made.

Both Josh Key and Mykola Kukharevych have travelled to St George’s Park today more in hope than confidently assured they will play a role on Saturday. The latest we have is they are extremely unlikely to play. That leaves Jerry Yates up front, and we can assume that’s where he will start on Saturday. The defensive issues with Key potentially not involved and Harrison Ashby, although fit, he is recovering from Tuesday nights game with extreme cramping. Duff has some decisions to make. Ben Cabango is an option again but Bashir Humphreys and Harry Darling haven’t done a lot wrong during his absence. The temptation for Duff is to include all of them in a defensive three, or pushing Bashir out to left back where he is anything but comfortable.

We believe Cabango will start on the bench.

We have been told Charlie Patino is assured of a start despite not getting any game time on Tuesday night. That ‘could’ see him replacing Jay Fulton in midfield. Duff commented today. "Ben Cabango comes into the thinking, which is a positive. Other than that, Mykola and Josh are touch and go as to whether they will be fit. We will wait and see” That’s more about playing his cards close to his chest in Duff’s case, we can only hope …

Eric Ramsay : Casemiro praise & could Dennis Lawrence return to Swansea ?
We featured Eric Ramsay some fourteen months or so ago when the Swans were linked with him back at the start of December 2023. When he moved right into one of the top runners for the Swans job we republished the feature again at the end of that month.
Swansea City : Go for number one, save time looking for second best
We had had a good look around the latest betting on the next Swansea City manager. Basically the bookies in this market are generally far off the mark when it comes to Swansea betting. They wheel out a few anomalies like Russell Martin who would never return to the club and prey on fans hope more than sense.
Luke Williams : The Swans just need to stop making the same old cheap mistakes
Despite the wait - when it became apparent that the new Swansea investment team pretty much had enough of Luke Williams, the Swans head coach, the inevitable happened. A brief wait had to be taken when one of the Directors was dealing with a family funeral, it soon turned to a green light yesterday afternoon after a decision was made on Sunday.
Luke Williams sacked : Directors meet and finally they agree !
Pressure on Andrew Coleman and the Swansea City board has come to fruition with the announcement of Luke Williams leaving Swansea City.

We can only review one thing from yesterday’s game at Stoke City. To have to spend the focus it takes to put together and edit a report, ensure the licensing and stats are correct, takes time. So this morning we thought we would take the option that it seems Swansea City take while the club drops towards League One.

Swansea City : Luke puts his foot in it again !
Swansea City seem to have recruited a smooth operator in Richard Montague. He is now at the club in an official capacity. So, what does he bring and what are his strengths ? After all he assembled a Notts County squad which at their level gave the club and its supporters something to be really proud of.
The crazy spiral the Swans find themselves in : Stoke City pre match
Swansea City will be travelling north from west Wales today in preparation for tomorrow afternoon’s away fixture against Stoke City. It’s a must win for both sides who are quite frankly dreadful over their past ten games, so much so they are both right in the relegation mix.
Richard Montague : Nothing to do with me says Williams plus that offside goal
Despite giving him an incredible reference, Swans head coach Luke Williams has stated the appointment of Richard Montague as some form of football director was nothing to do with him. We will also have a look at that Jay Fulton disallowed goal last night.
