Joe Allen still not ready for Blackburn opener tomorrow

As we reported earlier today Joe Allen still isn’t ready to compete for a place in the Swansea City first eleven this weekend. Joe’s hamstring has caused him an issue since being left out of the Wales side to play the Netherlands back in June. Now it’s next week at the earliest for him.

Swansea City boss Russell Martin has made it clear today that not only is he conscious of Joe Allen’s fitness before selection him for the swans he is also very much aware of his World Cup hopes. Speaking this morning he said "I think we’re nearly there. Joe is the only one, he’ll be back next week for sure. Tomorrow probably comes a bit too early for him. We’re desperate to get him involved but it’s such a long season. We’re conscious of what’s going on in November for him. We have to tread carefully. Apart from that, everyone’s fit and well, It was just weighing up. But the decision has been made, next week will be his time”

Giving his latest brief Martin also disclosed that he has no injury worries going in to tomorrows game.He does like an unsettled side so it’s probable we will see a similar line up to last Saturday at Rotherham. Early indication today of Martin’s continued frustration at failing to secure the three points last weekend " We can definitely improve on that performance. We want to get as many points on the board as possible. We’re looking forward to hopefully getting a better start than last season. We want to attack every game. Every game in this league is very different, and every game is winnable. There’ll be strange results. I think the fact that no away team won on Saturday tells you how difficult it is”

Russell Martin is determined to get all of the Jack Army on side for tomorrows game. Without the support of the home crowd things will become increasingly difficult "The patience and understanding everyone showed, we’re so grateful. We’ve been embroiled off the pitch and it means a lot to everyone. We want to pay that back with performances. It’s up to us to help generate that [atmosphere] and I’m pretty sure we have a support group that is really excited for the season as we are. I hope together we can become a real force”

Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers kicks off at 3pm tomorrow at the swansea.com stadium.
