Swansea City go in search of three points against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow
Swansea City head in to their first home game of the season in confident mood after a decent performance away at Rotherham last Saturday. With news thin on the ground regards Joe Allen we have learned he is closer than ever to making the squad this weekend.
He will face a series of test today with around twenty four hours to go to kick off, we are told he is looking sharp in training but still receiving specialist treatment on his hamstring. Ben Cabango is fit for selection amidst news leaking out from Leeds United that Cody Drameh wants to stay at Elland Road this season and fight for his place. The only thing now it seems is a permanent transfer bid which rules out Swansea for now, especially at this late stage in the transfer window.
Jon Dahl Tomasson the new Blackburn manager on the other hand has little to concern him despite hearing defender Hayden Carter will be out for some weeks. This week Blackburn have added new signings to their squad in the shape of Sammie Szmodics from Peterborough United and Tyler Morton. Szomodics is hopeful he will make his debut at the swansea.com whilst Morton has arrived on loan from Liverpool and is expected to be in the squad. Oddly enough Peterborough United demanded a million pounds for their twenty six year old forward to leave the club. And all that despite Barry Fry stating a million pounds is a ridiculous price when he inquired about swans keeper Steven Benda in June.
Rovers had a 1-0 win last time out against Queens Park Rangers.
Russell Martin will be hopeful that the numerous chances missed last weekend was just an opening day blip. Nathan Wood feels confident as well and is likely to start in defence for the swans. Reflecting back in his debut last weekend and playing alongside Kyle Naughton he said "If you need calming down, you can just look to your left or right and you’ve got big players like Kyle. Naughts is funny in training and he’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen." Big praise for the Swansea City defender who joined the club in 2015. Both Wood and Harry Darling impressed against Rotherham United but with Ben Cabango back and raring to go Russell Martin has a decision to make there.
If Joe Allen is still not ready there are options for the swans boss. However there seems little choice than to stick with Jay Fulton alongside Matt Grimes, unless of course we see one of the experimental formations from pre season. We will have a more in-depth look in to tomorrows game later this evening on Swansea Independent.
