Former Swans Defender Is Back With York

If you are going to spend just a month on loan at a club then to do it when they have two cup finals planned is a good idea and that is exactly what happened to Keith Lowe when he joined up with Kenny Jackett's side back in 2006.

Lowe was part of the team that beat Wrexham 2-1 in the final of the FAW Premier Cup and then just four days later he was on the winning side as the Swans beat Carlisle in the Football League Trophy at the Millennium Stadium.

It was two of just seven games that Lowe played in his month at Swansea but it was a good month with the Swans winning five of the seven games played although Lowe was back at his parent club Wolves by the time the season ended and the Swans ultimately ended up with play off heartbreak back in Cardiff.

Now aged 29, Lowe is at York City and this evening will return to the Liberty Stadium with the League Two side looking to create a cup upset in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

And he will renew acquaintances with Lee Trundle, Leon Britton and of course Garry Monk all of whom he played alongside in that short spell at Swansea.

"We won the Football League Trophy and the Welsh Cup whilst I was there so it was a great month," Lowe said.

"The spell helped me develop as a young defender playing alongside players like Garry Monk and picking up his traits. It will be great to see him again because I've not bumped into him too many times in between.

"Garry was our leader and captain when I was there and I definitely picked up a lot from him.

"It would be great to get a giant-killing on my CV and you just have to go into these matches and enjoy them first of all. That’s when you get the best out of yourself and the team.

"You also have to work hard and, with the adrenaline bringing out the best in you, you never know what can happen.

You would rather play against the so-called big hitters and Gomis obviously stands out for them

"I also like (Jonjo Shelvey but, really, you could reel them all off. They will still be established Premier League players even if it’s their reserves. I’m sure they are good enough to field two Premier League sides and it will be good to pit our wits against them.”

Despite giving him an incredible reference, Swans head coach Luke Williams has stated the appointment of Richard Montague as some form of football director was nothing to do with him. We will also have a look at that Jay Fulton disallowed goal last night.

Swans v Owls : Darling gifts the points to Sheffield Wednesday
Whatever it was that made head coach, Luke Williams choose his starting eleven against Sheffield Wednesday it was clear to many it wasn’t going to work. Overall this was a very poor display yet again by the Swans as all the hope from Sunday disappeared into nothing. This Swansea side is simply not being equipped enough to win Championship football matches.
