Fed - We Are Not Just Defending At Chelsea

If you read the papers this week then you would be forgiven for wondering whether the Swans were heading to Chelsea on a damage limitation basis rather than as a team that is competing in the same division as the reigning Premier League Champions.

Two games against Chelsea last season saw the Swans conceded nine goals but that is not something that worries Federico Fernandez nor does he believe that it is going to stop the Swans going there to try and win the game.

The odds are very much stacked against them at the bookies anyway with some offering as much as 10/1 for a Swans side that upset the odds last opening day and have a history of upsetting the big teams when it is least expected.

Let's not forget that the Swans did the double last season over both Arsenal and Manchester United and they both qualified for the Champions League so why couldn't the Swans win the game?

Fernandez believes that it could be possible "We do have quality and we will not just be looking to defend," said the centre-back.

"We know we will have to make the most of our opportunities, and when we have them we will need to move the ball quickly.

"It is a good game for us. It is a great way to start the season," he added.

"We have to focus in training and make sure we are ready.

"They have fantastic players. Costa, Hazard and some of the other guys are among the best in the league and we have to have the right mentality if we want to go there and keep a clean sheet.

"Concentration will be key, it only takes a moment and they can score, that is what makes them different from other teams. They have a winning mentality, and great players."
