Bale Scores As Madrid Beat Spurs
Our pre-season round ups are just about over but as Spurs close their preparations for the new season they are beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid with Gareth Bale scoring against his former side.
Real Madrid 2 Tottenham 0
Goals from James and Gareth Bale consigned Spurs to a 2-0 defeat in their Audi Cup opener against Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
Spurs started both halves well, Erik Lamela blasting over our best chance early on before Real Madrid's best spell and opening goal in the first half.
The second period was a quieter affair with both teams happy to keep hold of possession in the Munich heat and Bale's goal came out of nothing to secure victory for the La Liga giants.
Tottenham will now play either Bayern Munich or AC Milan in the third/fourth place match on Wednesday night, kick-off 5.15pm (UK time).
Mauricio Pochettino: "I thought the first 30 minutes were great and we played very well
"We created many chances to score but it’s true, when you have this type of team in front of you, this type of player, when you make some kind of mistake you always pay for it.
"We played well and when we assess the full 90 minutes there are plenty of positives for us, a great experience to compete against these world-class players.
