Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic

The Swans are the latest side to be linked with a move for Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic although they will need to battle with both Newcastle and Southampton for his signature.

Today's Sun reports that the Swans are in talks with the player already as Garry Monk looks to build his options ahead of the new season and provide some serious competition for Bafetimbi Gomis up front.

The media are certainly having a field day with linking the Swans to strikers with Jordan Rhodes, Loic Remy and Giovanni Simeone linked in the last week already.

The 20 year old striker is rumoured to be available for the sum of £12m which may seem a bit much for a striker of his age and it would be a gamble but there is almost a logic in the paper report that suggests the resale value if he proves himself will be worth it for the Swans to want to take the plunge.

Two years ago they paid a similar amount for Wilfried Bony and he went on to make a move to Manchester City last January for around £28m which could be enough to make us want to take a stab on this player.

The Sun report says"City supremo Huw Jenkins will spend big on the 20-year-old because of his prolific scoring record and potential resale value

"Anderlecht will sell at the right price and Jenkins is willing to pay big having made a £16m profit by selling Wilfried Bony"

For me I just cannot see any mileage in this story as well - the player is supposed to be good but not sure the price tag fits what we will be looking to pay for a striker this summer. When Bony signed it was different as we needed a main man up front but we have Gomis now and not sure either of these two players would want to settle for being second choice?
