Saints Linked With Crystal Palace Winger
Saturday, 27th Jan 2024 08:48

Southampton have been looking at more right wingers than the barman at the Conservative Party conference and the latest name to be linked is plying his trade for Crystal Palace, but is he better than what we have.

The latest name to be linked with a loan move to St Mary's according to The Daily Echo is Crystal Place winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

They say that Saints are keen the left footed right sided winger and could make their move for him in the next few days.

But does he offer much more than we already have ? he doesn't have the experience that the likes of David Brookes another name mentioned this week has, so would he be a better option than switching Sam Edozie to the right ?

Rak- Sakyi has made six appearances for Palace in the Premier League this season, all off the bench, but has been suffering from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since November.

However that is said to be cleared up now and he is about to return to the first team reckoning at Selhurst Park, last season he was on loan at Charlton Athletic and prospered in League One scoring 15 goals and providing 19 assists in all competitions.

That is an impressive record, but the question is still all about what he can offer Saints more than they already have, Sam Edozie is perhaps more experienced due to his games in both the Premier League and Championship and we also have Sam Amo-Ameyaw.

If we buy in another winger then it is the experience at this level or higher that we want rather than potential, so I would suggest that Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is perhaps not the man for us at this time, so he this could be more about his agent putting his name about and Southampton is a good name to be linked with.

Why is it that all the players we go after have a history of long term injuries.priority when looking for players should be their fitness record.
No good having a great player that's restricted to the treatment room. (ie. Ross Stewart).

It's a difficult window for us, we have a pretty good squad at present. So the questions are, do we need a striker? Not if She stays. Do we need a right back, not if KWP stays. If we sign a right sided singer what do we do with AA? Unless we can sign better than we already have, & from all players supposedly linked with us only Brookes fits the mould, are we are just signing high warning bench warmers?

Proof reading when spell check is on 😩
It should read "if Che stays" and " high earning bench warmers '

If we're looking for a right sided singer i'd go for Craig David, local lad with the club is in heart.
