| Forum Thread | Players released from premier clubs that I have pulled out of a huge list at 07:35 3 Jul 2024
No idea of age or whether they are limping on one leg! But there must be someone amougst this lot that would be worth a gamble. Ryan Sesseynon sensational when at Fulham Saman Ghoddos done deal goal of the month last Oct Harry Arter Good in the past Paul Dummett solid CB James Tomkins CB Joel Matip Andres Gomes Varane Dele not sure if this is dele ali great potential but a broken character high risk, big reward if works. Matt Richie Jeff Hendrick Tanganga Wayne Hennessy Keeper Darren Randolph keeper Ileanacho Martial Brandon Williams Elneny Ryan Fredericks Harry Rednapp jnr Josh Brooking great names of the past but didn’t inherit his namesake skill it looks like I know they will be injury prone , ready to pick up pensions as some will be old but look Luton picked up Barkley from the scrap heap and he almost kept them up last year personally I would love to see Ryan Sessegnon he’s 25 and spurs paid £25m for him. , Brandon Williams another full back. ileanacho 27 good to bring on half way second half when Ings blows up. Joel Matip give some help to the three young CBs we will have. Varane is class , always injured and wouldn’t come to us. I wonder what other people’s thoughts are I know we will get people on saying we are far bigger then free transfers , loan players but wake up and smell the coffee the club has wasted so much on useless transfers over the last few years that it needs to clear down debt and survive a year in the Prem somehow to then step up the transfer value ladder. |
| Forum Thread | One year yesterday Russell Martin joined Southampton. at 08:17 22 Jun 2024
My thoughts are that it has been a success as although he has had a lot of stick for the way of playing and never changing it whoever and his game management as a manager he has been good for us. Got a team that was lacking any belief, believing again after a disastrous past season. Seems to have everyone within the club pulling in one direction and if not he is not standing in anyone’s way to leave. Changed the whole way the players are coached and playing although that has taken some time. The way we play is not without risk which some supporters cannot and will not buy into but that is everyone’s choice. Most of his loan players have been a real success which appears to be his influence by who arrived. Lost some expensive transfers early on in the job but has got on with the job and has achieved the first goal of returning to the Prem. Gave us all one of our greatest memories of being a Saints supporter last season at Wembley. This season will be a real test , he needs to strengthen the side in multipule positions using basement transfers and loans but appears to be adding experience to the dressing room which is a plus after our learnings of two years ago. He needs to keep his job and that will be his hardest challenge as St Mary’s can go toxic very quickly and I just hope that even if we are losing games the support / management will stick with him for the whole season as changing managers so regularly makes you spiral into eventually the championship and beyond and if we don’t watch it we could end up with Southgate , Moyes or Harry as our next manager! And I for one has found it refreshing for someone to come along with fresh ideas to a club. Anyway that’s my review look forward to hearing what others think. |
| Forum Thread | First £20m spent from the transfer kitty. Who else. at 09:39 27 May 2024
As agreed on the loan deal last season. Harwood - Bellis £20m signing has to go ahead. I thought I would put my notes down of who, when I soon get the Director of Football job I would get the cleansing of the squad started. Scribbled on a back of a fag packet on my way home from a fantastic day out out but after today it’s old news and we move on. I think Martin knows the type of player he wants and a director of football will do the admin but martins team will decide the targets. Everyone said sign Piroe and he was mad not doing so but Piroe scored 13 goals in 45 games , Adam Armstrong scored 21 in 46 games and Adam scored 16 in 40 games so trust in RM . It will be a hell of a rollercoaster as we are going to get hammered in some games but it’s going to be exciting. Ross Stewart new forward not seen out all season for a full game , virtually a new signing. Flynn Downes being negotiated but issue due to West Ham not having a manager. Ryan Fraser deal almost done desperate to get out of Newcastle. Bonanza Miovski might be a replacement for Adams. Rodon loan or buy from spurs if we can’t find a very good cheap CB. McAtee or Borges from City another £15m each to Man City. Ben Breton Diaz or Scmodics one of these from Blackburn would be good. Josh Brownhill from Burnley, Sara from Norwich midfielders. Alfie Doughty Luton full back , brilliant attacking defender. Jack Clarke Sunderland attacking midfield How to fund it. Sulemana sell and get some money back. £10m Onuachu to Trabzonspor or someone else who wants a proven goal scorer must be worth £12+ Sell Bazuna and bring Mateus Lis back to fight for the number 1 shirt with a new signing such as Buckland , Ramsden (Dream) , Henderson etc. Bella Kotchap £12m could he do the job with us with a better CB partner then before. Caleta Car £6m Alvarez £12m personally I would like to keep him as he is class. Perraud £5m Lyanco £2m Mara £5m Mc Carthy , Adams free as contract runs out. Do we keep or Buy David Brooks and Jack Rothwell personally I think not. |

He has signed for Sheffield Utd. |
| Forum Thread | Aren’t football fans so fickle at 21:47 13 Jan 2024
I just looked back to see which of the forum members in Sept were calling for RM , Wilcox and the board for sackings and it’s interesting to see many are claiming how great a buzz it is at present yet if some people at the club had listened to them ( thank god they didn’t) so early into his Management term at SFC RM would of been on his bike and some journeyman manager who had failed with many clubs would of been given the job. Instead we are watching exciting football which has been missing at St Mary’s for so long whether it’s good enough to gain automatic promotion only time will tell but if we sell Adams we need another goal scorer to come in that’s for sure. I just hope that when we get into choppy waters again the clamber to get rid of everyone at the top is not lead by the same ones again who know who they are as they have gone on record on this forum with comments in September. As a club we all need to pull in the same direction which I think is the way we are going at present in good times as well as bad. I have said before games in the Championship are the best when we were here last time and this time, no VAR , away support is tremendous and it’s so good to be a supporter at present after so many hard times. |

Copied from the Echo , the squad to get us back to the Premiership although I quite like the Championship with no VAR , competitive games , good support etc. but I know if we don’t get back our status of a club will diminish. Personally I would like them to have swapped McCarthy for say Henderson. Bednarek for say the Swansea lad, maybe upgrade one of our full backs Spence from Tottenham would have been a good call. Djenepo , Onuachu move on as No need to replace as we have cover. Goalkeepers Gavin Bazunu, Alex McCarthy, Joe Lumley. Defenders Kyle Walker-Peters, James Bree, Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Mason Holgate, Ryan Manning, Juan Larios, Jayden Meghoma, Zach Awe, Derrick Abu. Midfielders Will Smallbone, Flynn Downes, Shea Charles, Charly Alcaraz, Stuart Armstrong, Joe Aribo, Kami Doyle, Adam Armstrong. Attackers Che Adams, Adam Armstrong, Ross Stewart, Paul Onuachu, Sekou Mara, Sam Amo-Ameyaw, Sam Edozie, Ryan Fraser, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Moussa Djenepo. The transfer window is still open in places like Turkey and Saudi Arabia and further exits could occur. Am I right in saying loaning out is still possible outside of the transfer window. Just my thoughts |
| Forum Thread | Who has any idea of contracts at 09:19 25 May 2023
Which players came in December / Jan and have relegation exit clauses Which players contracts are up at the end of this season. That will give us an idea of what dead wood we can jettison immediately or in due course. I have a Rangers supporter friend and they worshipped Aribo what has happened he has not even been on the bench , what happened to Orsic ! |
| Forum Thread | Things to change at 09:10 25 May 2023
I know some regulars will say I should not put my views forward as they are often opposite to there’s but I am hurting about this season just like everyone else. Make a key appointment on the board ie “The Owner” so he can see first hand how his money is being spent and decisions being made , take responsibility. Looks as if that is Done. Appoint a manager early so he can sort a team out ready to compete in the Championship, we can all have ideas but if people think Sam the man , Roy the Hodge , Shaun the sheep or Frank the ank are solutions it would of only prolonged our pain for another year. Bring him in and initially support him fully till New Year if it looks like he can’t do it then roll the dice but at least give him a chance whoever it might be. Getting rid of the owner and board now will only end up with more uncertainty and even a points deduction sometime in the season as money runs out. Some fans have to realise that running a club / business is bloody hard and full of jeopardy , I have done it and I couldn’t wait to sell it on. Saints have a huge debt and therefore that debt has to be serviced. Make a home end , it will annoy some supporters that would have to move but the atmosphere when things are going well on the pitch will be so much better. Just like the Dell. Get some noise back into St Mary’s make it a fortress it’s been like a bouncy castle recently. Complete overhaul of the squad , get rid of certain mercenaries / losers and mix experience with youth we have a hardcore of youth , get rid of most of the experience as they are not good enough and sign some free transfers , loan players with experience especially a Keeper , central defender , holding midfielder to shore up a defence that has not performed for at least three seasons. Hold regular manager / owner CEO / Director of Football meet the supporters bring the love back to the supporter base to get everyone pulling the same way. Look at the recruitment policy Brighton have Ai we have a tatty old black box which still works off BT phone lines. I only support the team away from home now as they are the true knowledgeable supporter who you can have a reasonable conversation with ( that will annoy the support on here who for one reason or another can’t travel) and I relies that’s a blanket statement but away games are when the true supporter comes out and I for one can’t wait to visit new grounds and at least feel that every game three times a week we have a chance of winning. I will shut up and go back into my box but I am hurting like every other longtime supporter and if we could only get behind the whole club till Xmas at least we could at least give everyone a chance to be successful or maybe to put things right which might have gone wrong in the past. Negativity breeds failure. Have a great summer and look forward to days out at Luton , Millwall , Birmingham , Blackburn , Norwich , Swansea etc |
| Forum Thread | Boltons new ground sponsorship at 18:18 20 Feb 2023
I had to laugh when one of my friends a true Bolton supporter told me that their ground has been renamed after taking a record for them sponsorship it now known the Toughsheet community stadium. Regarding our new manager I am awaiting to make a decision after next weekend as winning one game doesn’t justify my vote yet. The players were always going to try and prove what a disaster the Welshman was but now they have to keep the momentum going and start getting the clubs above looking over their shoulders. The atmosphere is going to be against us but we need an early goal to keep them quite. COYR. |
| Forum Thread | Finally got rid of Carrillo at 18:07 5 Oct 2020
We had to buy up his last 2 years Of his contract but he has gone So has Hoedt only Boufal left and that’s nearly done apparently. Lemina went on loan last month so actually what a great bit of business bought all of them for around £60m and got around £5m back in transfers. At least we have got a shed load of wages off the wage bill. |
| Forum Thread | Before anyone says why sell Klarer at 17:49 5 Oct 2020
Just think he has been with us 5 years and could not break into a team which has had suspect CB now for at least that time so that’s why he has been sold. Also he wanted to move nearer to his home in Austria and play in Germany |
| Forum Thread | Ralph gets his man at 00:14 1 Oct 2020
Ralph gets his man or men as two new arrivals about to arrive at St Mary’s. Sorry not allowed to say yet but contracts have been drawn up just waiting for terms to be finally agreed between their agents but Ralph seems very very confident that he has secured two very good players. Sorry a little vague but just say it is very good news. Looks as if up to 3 leaving also which will certainly easy the wage bill. |
| Forum Thread | Nunez who is he.? at 13:20 17 Aug 2020
Who is this Nunez guy that sites are saying we have placed a bid of £11m never heard of him or any whispers about him? Appears to come out of the blue |
| Forum Thread | Saints away to Chelsea first game of the season at 12:16 16 Aug 2020
Looks like an easy start for us at least it’s an away game where we don’t have our home supporters moaning every time they pass go a stray. Man Utd v Arsenal looks a taste first game. |
| Forum Thread | Football sponsorship at 07:40 15 Aug 2020
Copied not my own info but thought it was interesting Football sponsorship deals As some of you know, my company sponsored five Championship clubs last term and I am currently negotiating this year's deals and I thought that some of you may have an interest in reading the followin: Southampton Football Club Front of Shirt £2-3M Everton Football Club Shirt Sleeve £1M Wolverhampton Wanderers Shirt Sleeve £500k Newcastle United Shirt Sleeve £500k Burnley Shirt Sleeve £300k Leicester City Global Partner: Official Workwear Partner £300k Multi Club LED Norwich City, Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest - 8 LED Minutes Per Club, Every Home Match £72k Front of Shirt Championship A number of Clubs across the division yet to deliver their Front of Shirt Partner for the upcoming Season. There’s 5/6 Clubs here, with price ranging from £250k-£800k Back of Shirt Championship Similar to above, 10 Clubs in the market ranging from £60k-£150k At present, we are likely to go as platinum 2nd tier sponsor with one Championship club whereby we get so much more for our money - 4 season tickets, 4 corporate season tickets, 2 Boardroom tickets, use of three players for videos and sound bites, backdrop logos for all interviews, 30 second add on large TV before game and at half time, full page in programme, networking events, formal introduction to other sponsorship partners with a view to doing business and much, much more for a small six figure sum. Maybe some of you knew this but I thought that it might be interesting to some and a possible eye opener. Maybe no interest but thought I would post it on how much you have to pay in the championship, lower end of Prem. |
| Forum Thread | Reed to Fulham very soon at 23:05 13 Aug 2020
I had thought that due to the form he has showed at Fulham that we might have another look at him but I am told that the contract for him to move to Fulham is being drawn up at around £8m but negotiations are at an advanced stage. |
| Forum Thread | Where is Ralph dart going to land next. at 06:27 12 Aug 2020
I suspect it will be a very quick midfielder who can help out in any fast breaks from the opposition half when we are attacking which has been a real weakness of ours. Watch this space as there is lots of out deals simmering away to raise cash for Ralph to strengthen even if it is to get high earners off the pay role. |
