Still awaiting confirmation about what is happening next re. Squad builder/Fighting Fund but that’s a good idea. We have to know where we stand first, whether proper covers which cover the whole pitch would help and what the cost would be. Regarding the Squad Builder/Fighting Fund, this was raised at the Trust AGM almost two months ago: https://www.daletrust.co.uk/2024/11/trust-2024-agm/ “ The funding of the Squad Builder and the Fighting Fund launched at the 2023 AGM, and strongly supported by BOGS, should have been reviewed at the end of last season. This did not happen, and there are suggestions for alternative projects to be considered. In the meantime, the SB and FF funds will continue to benefit from donations made until a change, if any, is made to support an alternative project. Those currently donating will then be advised whether or not to support either the current projects, or any new project adopted. However, if any new project/s is/are adopted, the final balance for the SB and the FF will be ring-fenced for use for those specific projects only.” Not sure why we currently still have a ‘Squad Builder’ or ‘Fighting Fund’ without such a review actually taking place and a Trust member vote. |

We have invested in the pitch, it’s more that whatever work has been done, we are not much better off. It’s trying to establish why and finally getting it right. The last point is something that we will hopefully hear more about in the coming months because the finances will allow it if those plans require investment. Otherwise, they won’t be included in the plan! You’re right though, work is needed around a lot of the ground. |

Hope the Hartlepool players didn’t run after him when he celebrated the goal. His Grimsby team mates did when he got a last minute winner at Spotland in 2022. Foolish. |

Accrington’s groundsman has said on Twitter that they had 90mm of rain and their pitch is fine. They had a lot of problems in the past, with the pitch actually flooding in that corner near the away end at times, so had it totally reconstructed about 5 years ago. [Post edited 1 Jan 15:56]

No surprise after the amount of rain we’ve had. Even if we didn’t have ongoing issues with the pitch there could have been issues. Hopefully we can get the frost covers on to get Saturday played. Then got to hope the work to improve the drainage removes some doubt every time it rains. |

The rain has started. We are no further on a week later in finding out what has/is being done to get tomorrow’s game on or what the current state of the pitch is. All involved who know they could and should have done more for the supporters of this football club should be quite embarrassed at their lack of action. But you can bet they’ll have excuses and some won’t even care. |

Where’s that for?!? Not on the Rochdale forecast. |

Met Office now forecasting heavy rain from lunch tomorrow for approx 24hrs. Meanwhile the OS has two stories this morning promoting the game with no updates on the pitch. |

If the club/Trust have time, I’m sure they’ll endeavour to provide some proper detailed information to supporters about the action being taken over the next week. The same supporters who are debating whether to buy tickets for games which are looking doubtful if the forecast is right. They could even find out about ensuring the Sandy is open next Saturday at the same time Two birds, one stone and all that. |

Point taken about the amount of tickets sold. Making it a self fulfilling prophecy isn’t worthy of any praise though. How does such decision making fit within the “project 5000” plan? |

Well, at least we can rest assured the Trust will be reading and on the case… |

Is yours in one of the blocks that has previously been earmarked for away supporters on certain games? Either way, surely this has been communicated to those season ticket holders?! Edit: on your last point, it’s a game some fans are actually looking forward to attending as it’s a real chance to progress in a competition we might actually win! Having that impacted by unnecessary mistakes in the decision making process is indicative of inconsistencies in thought given towards supporters. [Post edited 28 Dec 2024 15:55]

It’s baffling. We had 1700 for the Tuesday night home game before Christmas against Tamworth, surely we are looking to get at least that many home fans for a competition we should be looking to go far in? Presumably the Trust’s representative on the club board would have been consulted ahead of a decision being made that impacts supporters? |

https://rochdaleafc.co.uk/fa-trophy-tickets-on-sale/ Whilst not expecting the biggest crowd, why isn’t the Sandy open? It was for the Gateshead tie last season and that was a round earlier. We all know the younger fans are turning up in good numbers in the Sandy, even trying to manage them wanting to sit together creates an unnecessary issue and may also put off some fans attending. |

It’s worth noting the weather forecast on the Met Office site is currently predicting light rain all day Tuesday and then on the day of the game too. In the co-chair’s Christmas message it was mentioned about taking action to ensure the game goes ahead. However, with little more detailed information about what we’re actually doing, would it not be an idea for the club to provide this to give people some confidence in buying tickets? We’ve then got the important Trophy game against Stockton which gives us the chance to progress, getting tickets sold for this will be easier if there’s more certainty about what we are doing with the pitch. The article also mentions “planning to Dryject the pitch on the 6th January”, that’s after this week’s games though and the day before the pointless National League Cup game against Wolves - can this match not be moved somewhere else to protect the pitch especially if work has taken place the day previously? |

Thank you for sorting today and doing a sterling job behind the bar on your own! Much appreciated by a decent turnout of supporters too. If nothing else, the last couple of years has shown that these ‘beambacks’ for away games really work. Always enjoyable, even the ones we’ve lost! |
