Disagree. He was one of the top scorers in the league last year in a side that struggled for the most part. Regardless of what we paid for him, I'd expect an absolute minimum of £150,000.

Who to replace Bobby Grant ?? on 15:00 - Jun 17 with 5552 views | SteTsGoldenBoot | I think it gives us options to get a 'typical' Centre Forward in, which I feel is what we need. Hilly said he had a list of potential candidates, so the next Glenn Murray, Grant Holt or COG will do us just fine.

I cant see someone paying up to 200k for a player in the last year of his contract, and who may miss up to a quarter of the season.

Barnsley are on the point of signing O'Grady - a player with a good track record (at least, since he was at Spotland!) and a lot of experience at Championship level - for £300k. Grant isn't (yet, and maybe won't be) half the player, so £150k looks very acceptable. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Who to replace Bobby Grant ?? on 15:36 - Jun 17 with 5392 views | Toffeemanc | I actually think Grant maybe expecting to be found guilty in his court case and that has had some part in him asking for a move. If he is found guilty then I think we will be lucky to get £50,000 for him.

Who to replace Bobby Grant ?? on 15:46 - Jun 17 with 5345 views | Hopwoodblue | If he's found guilty I don't want him here anyway so if makes no odds what we get for him, hopefuly he won't be and we get a reasonable fee.I think it would give Hill a fair bit of flexiblity in the wages department if both Grant and Kennedy leave, which could see us being able to bring in three more players for the price of their two wages.

Grimes, Gornell and now Grant. We were looking light up front last year, it is looking very worrying now unless we don't bring in a couple of experienced strikers.

Grimes and Gornell were like ghosts even when they wore the shirt. I doubt we will miss either of them. I know I won't be grieving their absence. As useful as coat hangers. Grant can/could do the business when he was on form, but spent too many games either sat in the stand or unable to make his presence felt (in a footballing sense). When he DID contribute, it was worth seeing, but sadly, with a disciplinary record such as his, he is always going to be a gamble for whoever he plays. You can't pay out decent wages (or transfer fees) for a player who will be missing for a quarter (or more) of the season. Grant would do well to remember that whilst he is pondering his next move.

Had it from quite a good source at the time that Grant was actually a free transfer and all we did was take over his rather inflated contract from Scunthorpe, such was their willingness to get him off their wage bill, talent wise he's been class for us and some of his goals would grace games plenty above our level but like Grimes his attitude will always prove his downfall, imagine a player like Grant with Holtys work ethic and commitment!!

I know that Grimes and Gornell did very little, but we are going to lose three of our main strikers, and at least two need to be replaced, unless we intend on pushing Hendo/Hogan up top.

If we are planning on a promotion push we can't be relying on Georgie alone, we need to replace what we've let go.

Hilly doesn't agree, he intends to make George "feel special". It also looks like we'll see a lot more gane time for Bunney and Abadaki. Hilly was excited when we (re)signed Hogan, and said something along the lines of "he's been brought in to play", and Vincenti can play an advanced midfield role. If/when Grant goes, I fully expect he will replace him, but going off whats been said in today's interviews I wouldn't expect to see another forward in the meantime.

In Hill's interview on DP he says that he's happy with what he's currently got in terms of striking options and he's not looking to recruit another forward. Says that he thinks we had too many strikers in the squad last season and that we need to show Donnelly a certain amount of faith and trust. Edit- Brierls beat me to it. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I am very excited to see Hogan, Hill seems to expect big things from him, we do however need an experienced front man in my eyes, to take some pressure off the kids.

Donnelly has to show he can produce consistently. He managed a short period during that winning run but then went off the boil again. Certainly needs to be in a front two, whether with someone we have or a newcomer when Grant goes.

Who to replace Bobby Grant ?? on 19:15 - Jun 17 with 4703 views | AtThePeake | Personally think we needed a striker regardless of this, due to the fact that Grant played out wide for the majority of the time that Hill was here, I now think w'll need a winger too. Preferably one that is comfortable in a variety of formations, as I think that Hill is looking for versatile players particularly across the front 4, in order to effectively use 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, or 4-3-3.
