Any advice?

I hate doing this kind of thing as I'm not much of a public speaker, and infront of 90 odd peoples my ass will be blowing.

I made a start, should I include some one liners, what's the dos and dont's, obviously cheap insults and rude stories are a No?

Grooms Speeches on 23:24 - Jul 5 by Lblock

For some reason I was pony’ing it for mine.... and I think that’s because I ended up OVWR prepping

Loved our day
So many QPR fans under one roof it was almost “an end”

I did all the usual balls then went into-
“I’ll never forget the first night I met my wife....
I looked across the dance floor in the club
There was this vision of lovelinesss..
(Pause for ahhhhh’s from the ladies)
She was fit
A blonde bombshell I couldn’t take my eyes off of...
Classy mover
So I tried to move closer and smelt as gorgeous as she looked
(Pause for ahhhhh’s from the ladies)
I moved in.....
And then....
Standing right behind her was this lagged up loudmouth with a bottle of Bud in each hand who some 20 odd years later I’ve ended up marrying.....
(Pause for you vvanker from the ladies)
But ain’t I chose right ladies and gents?! Please be upstanding and raise your glasses to the love of my life.... my wife!!!”

Went okay

There’s more but this thread is an old one so....

"lagged up loudmouth with a bottle of Bud in each hand"

We definitely fish in the same ponds my friend.

Thanking everyone is important but nowhere near as important as your new wife. Make sure when you sit down you’ve made her the star and given her something to remember, not the best man/ushers/bridesmaids etc.

Best advice I’ve ever had on public speaking was “when was the last time you heard a speech that was too short”

Short, sweet, romantic. Everyone’s rooting for you

Do not try and be too funny as the best man can sweat on that one.

Do open with the line; "Thanks everyone for being here, it's been an emotional day, even the cakes in tiers......."

I thank you!!!!!!

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

It's old, I know, but how about, "Thanks you so much. I always like a warm hand on my opening."

Coat etc.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

My opening line (after some brief thanks) was
“It’s been a long time since I’ve had a six inch mic in my hand ....... (paused .... looked to the right of the room).... let’s never talk about that night again Micky”

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
