We seem to be in deep S,H one T E 19:39 - Feb 23 with 1398 viewspancab77

Not the best person to say this because I've only seen my beloved U's three times this season, and the last time was away to Orient when it was like watching Brazil.
The main difference from that team would appear to be the loss of the Arsenal lads.
I have said, on here a couple of times that we don't have a defence and it doesn't seem any different now. Could someone tell me what they did wrong today.
One other point, how many players are out of contract at the end of the season, because although the buck stops with the manager some players appear to be either not good enough or not interested enough.

You're not wrong Panners, I wasn't at the match yesterday, but have had the misfortune to watch the goals twice already, can't bring myself to watch them again.

I have watched 9 games this season and only seen Colchester win once (home v Preston). I have another 5 pencilled in to attend - all away!

Even I am fast realising that perhaps we are not good enough to stay up. Problem is we have too many loan players who will disappear at the end of the season.

Is JD the right man at the helm. I thought yes, but perhaps we need someone with more experience to perform miracles and keep us up.

Interesting to note that much has been made of how together our team are. Well the Monkey Hangers three weeks ago were dead and buried and now the impossible could happen and they could survive.

Facts is we need 18 more points from a diminishing number of games.

Yeovil is now a must win as are the games against the Monkey Hangers, Bury and Oldham and we still have to then find another 6 points.

It could go to the wire against Carlisle on the last game of the season.

Oh and one more thing Walker was clearly at fault with two of the goals yesterday.

Very depressing - Keep the faith.

I think we have only a tiny chance of escape based on yesterday's horror show.

As much as I recognise Joe as a Colchester legend and so much wanted him to do well, I think the manner of yesterday's defeat has crossed a point of no return for him and achieving success (or at least in relative terms, managing the 18 points Durham refers to )

I see no way that he will be able to motivate or cajole the players to the required standard after yesterday/s capitulation so the minute chance I refer to would (as much as I hate having to say so) would be a change of manager even at this late stage of the season.

It needs to be someone who tells yesterday's team (with the exception of maybe three) that a performance like that will not be tolerated and rules with a rod of iron.

Not going to happen, so sadly I think we will go down.

All rather sad but if you look at the manner of our defeats - yesterday's being the second 5-1 of course - we continue in a defensive decline that set in last season.
JW - for all his controlled 'grey' football may well have kept this lot up. Joe has never managed before and I respect his blue and white blood hugely. He was a fine player for us too, but inexperience is maybe costing us right now.

As for feeling that we 'may have to go down to come back stronger' - I'm afraid I do not agree. Div 4 is still as hard to escape from as ever - there are some 'big' teams still down there - Rotherham, Bradford, Gills etc and there's no easy escape - nor from the Conference if you look at the Lutons of the world.

Our decline began with Championship relegation and I fear the inevitable now. Clearly our squad are not motivated by the need to fight even in the way Wignall's and Whitton's teams were not so long ago. Too many uncaring loanees maybe, inexperienced JD, for sure. But to stay up now would be very surprising and my fingers are crossed without much hope.

I go back to my earlier thread under "Our Manager" and I asked the question yesterday should JD go or stay?

Well it has got down to just me attending yesterday, as far as us old codgers go some of you wont like it but we said last January 2012 ! something has tobe done. Well nothing was done and we all know what happened with the drawn out 20 odd games without a win.
We are begining to wonder if the problem is at the top " bit of a plain Crisp !! " Perhaps Mr Ward was not getting support from our chairman Mr Crisp Sorry Mr Cowling !! Seems strange Mr Ward is having quite an impact at Bristol Rovers yes a new broom sweeps clean as they say. Trouble is Joe has swept too clean with below parr players he has brought in. Again is this due to our never seen or heard chairman ?
Yestrday was a complete shambles this as many others have stated is not a div 3 sorry div 1 team and if we go down we will struggle just look at the cup games.
Somebody remarked how there was only two people in the directors box ??

Bravo MR HAPPY!!!!

Delighted! Especially to trim Johnson's wings.
I will be the one to predict here that I have always reckoned we would win at Stevenage...............

A win at Stevenage would be massive as would drag them into the relagation dogfight.
