Steve Eyre's New Role on 20:44 - Apr 13 by lovecity | get down to Citys Academy and you see SE on every pic from U11s to reserves. If someone wants to just show one pic then thats up to them and there waste of time. He chose to work extra nights and Sundays coz he loves the game.He didnt need to. Ask Andrew Tutte about Steves influence on Man City and on his life. Your club is gonna be like Reading and Watford were for for Brendan Rodgers before he found right board to let his obvious potential flourish. He turned four jobs down for Huddersfield big gain for them. Good Luck Steve and Good luck Dale tommorow. |
I genuinely wish the bloke well, and he is apparently a better coach than a manager. Whilst here he made too many mistakes, too frequently and ultimately 'lost the plot' at Spotland. Some of his loan signings were ridiculous, and some of his post-match interviews were bizarre to say the least. He couldn't (or wouldn't) see what was plain to almost everyone else. I think the biggest disappointment from a supporters perspective was the feeling that we were 'conned' into appointing someone whose CV had been 'over-egged' for the purposes of getting the job. I don't think anyone has satisfactorily explained that one. Was his CV (as presented to the club) accurate or not? Someone knows for sure, and rumours abound, but it left a bad taste as far as a lot of us were concerned. As I say, I do genuinely hope he is a success at Huddersfield, but I just wish he'd missed us out on the way there.

but here we go again. He had qualities everyone in fooball (players/coaches/managers alike) all seem to like rate and respect him. Some of your fans do some of em dont but if that is your opinion what did you think of Beech and now Coleman? i really think it will all come out in the end well for Steve and hopefully you asap but i feel you missed out on a good un who at worst had too much to do in one go on his first job and no money to influence. Im sure he says some of his loans were crap but the market and your wages does rather leave you limited somewhat im sure you agree. Hes kept his dignity and openly says he loves all things Rochdale including you the fans and has a close fantastic relationship with your manager. His coaching is excellent you will never find anybody say anything otherwise. He left you a "draw" inside the dropzone? you him and the players would have risen from that. Now hes been chosen by a Man to join his staff with two promotions on his CV and a multi muti millionaire Chairman. We the fans know plenty but???? are we always right? Your Christmas period killed any chance of progression but i think Coleman will be good in the end.But he and Beech have actually been way short aswell lets not forget.Apparently Huddersfields players en mass told Grayson to get Steve in and Grayson just replied "Its all in hand". Its defo their gain but hopefully not your loss as Coleman Jones et all push on and get you buzzing again. Good Luck Daleoids LC

You may well be right, but one of his biggest problems was his lack of insight into League One. Football isn't football the world over and what might work well with highly gifted individuals won't work with bread and butter footballers of League One. We had games where we had half a dozen tactical changes in the same game - that just won't operate with players at this level. It simply baffles them and leaves them unable to keep up with what they were doing. The way youth football operates is changing now and to run a set up at the second tier is probably spot on given his past history (we're going for third tier). I hope it works out for him sincerely. The fact that he's gone for a crack at this rather than look for a return to first team management speaks volumes to me about where he sees his strengths.

From my very, very limited knowledge of footballers I do believe that SE has a superb reputation as a coach. 'Best training sessions I've ever had' were what I was told. Lets's not rewrite history. An awful manager who was completely out of his depth but someone with an excellent coaching reputation.

And to repeat 442's question, how do you know so much? It's very simple and requires a simple answer.

Steve Eyre's New Role on 22:27 - Apr 13 with 1392 views | judd | As the person who took that photo with permission of staff at the academy at Platt Lane I can categorically state that you are talking bollocks. As you will know, photography is banned on site once you reach the gates. To view all those photos upstairs outside the canteen and to identify the then to be ex dale manager on only 1 of them was the reason I sought permission.

Grayson is not popular at Huddersfield...most likely the players want Eyre in as his appointment will help speed up Grayson's exit...
