Just back 15:33 - Aug 24 with 19602 views | BlackCrowe | Definitely entertaining and frustrating in equal measure. Thought Dembele looks a real find. Saito wasn't on the pace today. Frey was excellent - superb energy levels. Celar fairly anonymous again and should've scored. Their keeper kept them in the game but our strikers just don't attack the crosses in enough. Think we've got the making of a very exciting team though.

Just back on 09:16 - Aug 25 by daveB | Unless it was due to an injury I thought Marti got it wrong taking off Saito for Cellar at half time, we were a bit too direct and reliant on crosses and they dealt with them all well, that Edwards for them was like a machine winning headers I'd have liked us to try and keep the ball and be a bit more patient, the game was very chaotic at times although saying that we had more than enough chances to win the game. First half I thought Plymouth were quite good and fully deserved to be level at half time after a brilliant start by us which faded very quickly. |
Marti said he was "exhausted", not really quite sure why. I would have swapped him away from his marker. I too thought Plymouth did quite well. I know it is de rigeur to hate Rooney and think he is a moron, but I still think he may be better than that and his players certainly fought for him.

As a side note, I'm in Brisbane, where was it shown over here?

Just back on 23:36 - Aug 24 by baz_qpr | I suspect that was because you only see part of it on TV, first half definitely so was moving from in front of the defence into the 10 area and out to the wings. Second half tired and was pushed further forward into more of a crowd of players. Hang my hat that he will be the best 8 since Faurlin. a proper playmaker |
Faurlin was a number 6 / DCM - a defensively-minded player but with fantastic playmaking ability from deep, the likes of which we have not seen since. I thought Madsen, despite a few nice touches, was not involved in the game - either defensively or offensively and the game largely by-passed him. Early days but agree with another poster that he doesn’t exactly scream number 8, a role traditionally defined by energy, stamina, and box to box ability. Interested to see more.

I don’t really buy it, perhaps because it’s Rooney and he’s been so crap before. They scored one brilliant goal which can’t really be put down to the manager. Good goalkeeping but ten shots on target and another 20 shots on top usually means you’re losing comfortably. If they lose Whittaker they’re in big trouble and probably even with him.

I'm prepared see the Derby similarity - Saito got brushed past a bit easily and an unfortunate heavy touch from S led to a l an instinctive screamer (looked like that anyway) alah Zamora.
Just back on 10:50 - Aug 25 with 2971 views | lassel | The ‘mark’ against Cifuentes for me is his handling of games against 10 men, both here and at Hammarby. The first thing they teach you in your badges is that with a man’s advantage you keep the ball moving side to side and keep the defence turned around as that’s where gaps open up for the additional man to utilise. Far too often yesterday we got it out wide, put a foot on it, came back inside and crossed by which time the defence are set and the aimless lumping it into the box the last 10-15 mins was a gift for a knackered Plymouth side. Obviously Marti has forgotten more about football than I’ve ever known but it felt a bit weird to keep the 4 at the back on to handle very little attacking threat Plymouth offered and I’d wager EDB coming on tasked with standing 5 yards from the penalty spot would’ve served us better than Dunne, even with Paal pushed up.

live it looked like a heavy touch but having watched again on telly the ball was kind of belted at him first time, he had no time to compose, it kind of hit his foot at speed rebounded back to Whittaker and bang.

That's the point I was making. And it's not a criticism but from what I saw yesterday of him he's no number 8. Seemed to very similar to what we already have here.

It's on a channel called Beinsports. Not sure if you're on FB or the social type but there was a hoops down under meet up last night to watch it in Brisbane. Pig and whistle I think.

Field responsible for the goal, and slows the game down by being unable to pass forward.

OK. I have Foxtel but we lost BeInsports over a year ago. I used to watch the Rs on that. I do know the Pig and Whistle in the City. I should have thought of that. COYRs

He played well and was very unlucky that his, on this occasion, poor touch resulted in their equaliser-great strike, mind.

According to his interview, he seems to think he can be a 6, 8 or 10, but prefers the 8 role. Hopefully, he's not delusional.

Download the Bein Sports App, not great picture quality but works fairly well. They had a big sale on not long ago with discounts on a one year subscription so worth checking out. I’m in Brisbane too (East Bris) but not on Facebook so didn’t know about the Pig & Whistle get together either until I saw it mentioned in the match thread chat. Would be great to meet up in person with you and all the other Brisbane Rs sometime. I’ve met a few over the years but god knows there’s not many of us.
