Mumbles Pier redevelopment on 09:48 - Jul 26 by nantywatcher | We will have to disagree on that one, I stopped going to them the second time a meal arrived at my table and it had not been defrosted properly. maybe the Loung group has forced them to up their game? I went to the Lounge on Thursday and it was heaving, next door the waiter had nothing to do but constantly valet his reception desk. Stil I've got great respect for your opinion so it's BP for me next visit. Mind you if they serve me up more defrosted rubbish, I'm suing you! |
Sorry mate. I meant the Bistro in Tycoch, not Bistrot Pierre. It’s a small, independent restaurant.

MK is at Venue 42 on Newton Road, which has had great feedback. Well worth a visit.

IMO it should have remained the George , we were never fans of the transition into a "modern" bistro type or what ever it tried to be .

Mumbles Pier redevelopment on 16:52 - Jul 25 by Whiterockin | Add in the proposed St Helens/recreation ground development and the promenade will soon be the envy of many. Possibly after my time though, but already Swansea/Mumbles is nothing like it was in my younger days, the future is really bright, citizens of our city should be immensely proud. |
It was a lovely place to grow up in, the 70's and 80's were a great time anyway but living there, going to school there and then working there until I was 25, it had everything I needed and town was a 25-30 minute bus ride away, back when the buses were double dekers and very regular..the 1,2,3 nd 3a. Then, just about when I left, the nimbys had starte to take iver and put the kibosh on practically every development, every change was stopped and the village rotted away. It's great to see it being reinvented now. If Swansea council can find a way to do a major improvement of the promenade all the way to St Helens the entire seafront could be a tourist hotspot. Just a suggestion but maybe an outdoor seated area next to the West Cross inn, one that customers and passers by could use and also maybe a covered seated area at Norton as well, for the walkers to have a rest. How about improving the footpath from Blackpill through to Sketty lane car park with another covered seated area just there facing onto the beach?

Fantastic post. Just as I remember it growing up although I am a little older than you. Put a small coffee outlet next to the covered area's like you mentioned and I'm sure it would be a winner.

Swansea was even better in the 50s and 60s The people had pride and swagger and kicked arse . It had a vibrant centre and a glorious milieu for many . I left in )6 and it’s been ripped asunder. This comment saw me receive much pejorative but I stand by every word . Co pared to what it was,Swansea is now in a pitiful state . People used to flock to our town centre . Valley people,Carmarthen folk ,even the Turks ,Gid bless ‘em. Any regeneration is well overdue

You need to come back and look around for a week, Swansea has reinvented itself and is nothing like the Swansea of five years ago.

To start with there the new student flats and the new council building on the Kingsway. Fr a few decades we had piss poor councils that ruined swansea with stupid ideas but the latest bunch look to be much better.

A really good friend of mine , sadly departed told me some stories of Twin Towns filming there for late night shots , he was in one of the choirs on the pier then . Twin Towns I thought was great , a smaller version of Trainspotting another great movie . Turning back to food , go to place is Vesuvios in Landore for me .

Home cooked food should be a given in any half decent food establishment. But what do most do ? Buy off the likes of Castell Howell . Go for Sunday lunch to a pub and they all have the same 6 or 7 deserts. Brought in from the likes of the above. Pathetic.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Virtually all chains do this. That’s why Bistrot Pierre and Croeso Lounge are more about location than the food. It’s perfectly adequate and not expensive, but it’s not on the same level as the independents
