Started already since we thumped the Yorkshire Massive so going early.

Apparently we are linked with Bosun Lawal. Celtic, on loan at Fleetwood, centre midfield or centre back. 20 years old, Irish apparently.

Feel free to add as they come in !

Yes in theory makes us harder to break down if we get Hayden back - but like you say the issue of scoring persists.

I’d worry about where the creativity would come from but you don’t see many Ray Wilkins type midfielders around these days anyway. Dixon-Bonner maybe. A midfield 5 of Field, Varane, Colback, EDB and Hayden looks strong.

A few outings for Bennie and maybe a loan to get him up to speed for next season. Release Colback in the summer and look to give Hayden a contract. Easy this football lark

(none of this will happen)

Great work by his agent, having seen him play that’s about 2 levels above where I’d have expected him to find a new club!

I see Pedder is joining Southend as well.

I'll be interested to see how he does

Excellent. It would have been nice to have him for Saturday but next week will have to do.

Jack Collback is a walking yellow card. There will be plenty of games he will be unavailable for leaving us with just 3 or if you count EDB 4. Always good to have legs in the middle of the park. If we can get Hayden for a cheap deal I'd say go for it.

Field racks up the yellow cards as well. Would love Hayden back if we can budget for him knowing that we need attack minded players.

I see Sheff U have also signed Gilchrist from Chelsea and Souttar from Leicester on loan. Likely to be significant fees for them too. We’ll be punching well above our weight to get close to the top six with our resources.

Well above our weight I'd have thought! I know we are all believers in Marti but this is a bottom half squad, we'll be overachieving if we finish in the top half

Very true.

You'd happily take a finish that sees us avoid flirtation with relegation from September onwards. A cup run would be nice to add some positivity to the place.

Like many on here, I accept our remaining transfer activity will come at the end of the TW, and we'll see where we truly are by the end of September.

I've yet to see EDB impose himself on a game. He's got the skill-set, he needs to learn to apply it more consistently

They seem to have signed 3 left backs, the parachute payments are killing this league

Can’t disagree, but article in guardian yesterday showing that they released 16 and signed about half that. They got £10m for a striker, they spent nothing last year and got the prem money. There’s still panic up there that the squad is nowhere near ready.

Bare bones.

At the moment, I see a team that is great in possession and probably solid at the back, but lacking menace in the final third. I hope I am wrong and that we have a plan to get Zan Celar into goal-scoring positions and get the ball to him. Marti may have just such a plan.

Yes, and I hope Marti has seen that focusing mainly on Smyth to create will not work. Kolli (he'll surely start tomorrow) looks like he can deliver better from out wide and Andersen should be used centrally more to play Celar in.

The big thing from writing the season previews, and it applies to us as well, is there's still a month of transfer window left. There's no way, for instance, the Hull and Watford squads look like this by September. I've stuck Sheff Utd midtable, then they go out and add Gilchrist and Souttar.

We look good at the back and light up front to me. In four weeks time we could have sold JCS and signed 4 forwards.

Why don't they shut (SLAM!) the window shut before the season starts?

Is it because of different start dates in Europe?

Or does it give teams that have a poor start a chance to panic buy?

It must be very disruptive for teams that receive bids late in August, especially if a player starts really strongly.

Aren't they usually seen in W12 riding unicorns bareback with Lord Lucan following them?

We're at the dreaming stage of the season mate, 24 more hours of it enjoy.
I remember Mel and I sitting in the Crown talking about our outside chances of Europe cos wed signed Junior Hoilett. Two hours later we'd lost 5-0 to Swansea.

That match was one of the weirdest I’ve ever seen. We could and should have been about 3-0 up, we still looked in it at 3-0 down. They just kept effing scoring. An accurate harbinger of what was to come through, and Hughes’s hubristic ‘this club will never be in this position again while I’m manager’ was exploded one game into the new season.

Bare bones.

Don't think that's quite the case now under Marti. Last season he didn't pick up a yellow after January (15 games)

And look like adding Rak-Sakyi as well. Half the clubs in the Championship interested but only clubs with parachute money could even get close to what Palace are demanding.
