In a strange twist of events l found myself in conversation with a young lady who had attended Layer Road for a match against Hull City in our first season in The Championship. The 5-1 encounter.

We were attending a promo evening for a band called The Datsuns in North London in 2008.

During the evening she explained that she had been present at a party that made the national news due to the tragic death of someone by the name of Mark Blanco.

The incident occurred in December 2006.

This incident will be shown on Channel 4 on Monday night at 22.00 in an hour long documentary and several people known to me have made contributions.

It may be of interest to some.

I am very much hoping that the police will reinvestigate the death of Mark Blanco as a result of what will be included in the content.

I know that what l was told by this young lady 15 years ago has been instrumental in the making of this documentary.

A little more on The Migrant. The reference to the hostel was triggered by a conversation with Peter Doherty's mentor Paul Roundhill. He alluded to hearing certain sounds coming from the room next door in a hostel. I must have filed that away in my head to use as an element for 'Migrant'.

Although the piece is in draft form l doubt l will change more than a couple of words as l like them to be raw and under worked - the exact opposite way to how just about everyone else writes or is taught.

Speaking of hostels l have just come back from a dog walk and passed a former hotel which has morphed into a hostel. This establishment is in North Station Road in Colchester and as l approached a side window opened and the occupant threw a nappy out onto the pathway.

Sometimes on the morning walk l observe the drug runs - both pick up's and suppliers.

Those who are on the pick up walk at tremendous speed - arms flaying and bodies bouncing off the pavement, akin to a form of dance. Once they have had their fix they walk at a slower and more measured pace.

August 2002

I was following a news story on Sky News in August 2002 that featured the disappearance and subsequent murder of two young girls in Soham, Cambridgeshire.

During the coverage that l followed l was particularly captivated by an interview involving Ian Huntley and conducted by Jeremy Thompson on behalf of Sky News.

From that moment l had a very strong premonition that l would work with Sky News and in particular Jeremy Thompson. This was like a form of reverse deja vu. It was a very powerful and unusual experience and l don't think l mentioned it to anyone at the time.

Four years later this all fell into place when l found myself working alongside Jeremy Thompson for Sky News during the coverage on The Suffolk Murders.

As if that was not enough another unusual strand unravelled during an interview The Sunday Mirror did with an individual by the name of Tom Stephens who was very much on police radar throughout the investigation.

I had a similar premonition that l would interview Tom Stephens too.

This also occured when l found his home telephone number some years later and called him.

The conversation was extraordinary and l offered publishing the content in a book l was writing about the case should Mr Stephens agree.

He wanted a week to think about it and asked that l call him back.

When l did he had made the decision not to have his account of proceedings published.

This l honoured.

The Sunday Mirror interview and police interviews that featured Mr Stephens were incredible.

MISS J ( known to Tom Stephens re. previous post ).

Where did you spend last Christmas?

Peterborough Prison.

Christ, how come?

Shop lifting ...l knew that if l got caught around that time that I'd get about 6 weeks, and if l didn't get caught l could sell some of the stuff for gear.

What was it like?

It was ok, they'd just built a new wing and it was comfortable....better than where l was staying.

So in a way you were actually pleased to have somewhere to 'stay' over Christmas.

Yeah.

And you have no stigma about it at all?

None.

Thanks for agreeing to do this.

It's ok, you got a drink or something?

Like what, tea or coffee?

No, like Vodka or summit.

I don't drink but someone left some gin here the other week, there's a bit of that.

Top.

I'll get it ....

Thanks, can l have a cold drink as well?

Yeah, I've got some tropical juice.

( She is drinking the gin straight and nods a yes ).

Christ, have you drunk that already, there were about ten measures there.

Yeah, that's nuffin.

( TBC ).

We were discussing this tonight.

Quite a few million pounds sitting there and very well deserved.

The music links may be of interest as one delves deeper.

There are many theories on the identity of Banksy.

From my visit to his place of residence in 2005 l can confirm that there was a link to Massive Attack.

He is not RDN though๐Ÿง๐Ÿง

Some theorists had considered an artists collective as opposed to an individual ...not so.

But he has an extensive array of 'helpers' - many of whom are very talented individuals.

Having learned about aspects of his lifestyle l can confirm that many of these are expressed in his work around the world.

Colchester has been on his road map at various times.

There was so much going on in the Shoreditch area of East London pre and post millennium that around twenty years later l am still joining up some of the dots.

I cannot think of any other square mile on the face of the earth that was ever populated by so many diverse creative souls over the course of around a decade or so.

Many of those who lived in the area and produced music, art, fashion, dance, film and poetics now scattered across the land - and some as far away as Brazil, New Zealand and the United States - and some much closer to home, here in Colchester no less.

Some of these individuals became known globally while others ( some with incredible talent ) just faded into the shadows - but their work is still out there and a wondrous place to revisit on occasion.

Sometimes a piece of work that has been hiding on a shelf or on a wall for years is rediscovered and starts out on an unexpected journey.

Wishing everyone a peaceful May Bank Holiday and thanking all followers for tuning in.

Here are some lyrics written by Louis Eliot of Rialto - Monday Morning 5:19 - released 1997 and made 37 in the singles charts.

At eight o'clock we said goodbye
That's when l left her house for mine
She said that she'd be staying in
Well she had to be at work by nine

So l get home and have a bath
And let an hour or two pass
Drifting in front of my TV
When a film comes on that she wants to see

It's Monday morning 5:19
And I'm still wondering where she's been
'Cause every time l try to call
I just get her machine

TBC.....

On the face of it these words do not suggest anything out of the ordinary as a basis for a song ....but!...such is the exquisite timing, crafting and delivery that by the time all the component parts come together a masterpiece evolves.

I detect a possible fault in verse 2 line 2 - should this have been? -

And let an hour or two go past

Anyway, the only time l saw this song performed was when Rialto performed at a V Festival, possibly '01ish....the sound waves drifted across, some getting caught or slightly lost in the breeze - and yet, they penetrate in such a way as to engulf one, and make an imprint.

This song was written just before everyone had a mobile phone - or possibly from further back.

It appears to be from a real life experience.

I will put the other verses up later.

On occasion, l contact the writer of a song to get their perspective and background to the piece - something for later as l once unravelled a mystery lyric that even the band who performed it were unsure of it's origin.

Continuing with Monday Morning 5:19

( I had to check this as l wasn't sure if the 2.30 time reference was in the early hours or the afternoon, and the back seat reference has thrown me....despite it all a sublime piece of work ).

It's Monday morning ( etc / verse repeats )

And now it's almost six am
And l don't want to try again
'Cause if she's still not back
Well heaven knows what then
Is this the end?

At half past two l picture her
In the back of someone else's car
He runs his fingers through her hair
Oh, you shouldn't let him
Touch you there

It's Monday morning ( verse repeats )

And now it's almost 6am ( verse repeats ).

I need to hunt down my CD copy as l think a couple of lines may be missing from the online lyrics.

Some threads back l allude to Banksy being in Colchester at a printing company to discuss the banknotes that were being proofed up. ( 2011? ).

I believe the person who was with him on that occasion may have been Steve Lazarides, who is also from Bristol - though both were living in London ( or they were in '05 ).

That aside, what l discovered during a late exchange in the night is that Steve Lazarides was commissioned to photograph the home and contents of Kurt Cobain following his death in over in Seattle.

The photography was to be for a book project but didn't get released.

While in Seattle he was in contact with Courtney Love who had the keys to Cobain's property.

By another strange quirk of fate many years later Courtney Love was working on her book 'Dirty Blonde' at the same time that l was putting 'Dirty Blonde at the Cash Machine' together in '05 with both books being released virtually simultaneously during 2006.

Banksy and Steve Lazarides were effectively business partners around the time of activities in Colchester ( and much further afield ).

I think most people will be aware that the Banksy set up is ( was ) on a huge scale with a team that would need to organise scaffolding for some of the larger and elevated pieces.

Additionally large sheets would cover the areas being worked on by a team in hi - res attire with paperwork at the ready to buy any time required to complete the work.

I wonder if all of the original Banksy templates and stencils are stored in the UK ( l saw some in '05 ), there would be many hundreds. Perhaps over time they were lost or destroyed.

PICCADILLY LINE - Taken from 'Blueprint for Life'

I know you're out there

Somewhere

Late night shopping

People hopping

Once l thought l saw you

At a street cafe

Drawing zen pictures

In the afternoon

Your pink lipstick message

On a mirror

It always haunted me

It still does

The seventy five point seven calls

From your cocaine bed

Out your head

The frozen state

That you became

A drowning flame

Those people that you knew

The select few

I don't think so

I always harboured the idea

Of some kind of twilight rescue

But somehow

Didn't quite pull it off

I travelled for hours

On the underground

Seeing your face on posters

Seeing your name on tube cards

Hearing your voice in tunnels

And it never goes away

Oh and yes

I lit ten thousand candles for you

In a dream

So l suppose you could say

That doesn't count

But surely

It tells you something

And your silhouette

I saw it projected on buildings

In Canary Wharf

I saw it in the night skies

Over Lewisham

I loved the blue streaks in your hair

The sound of your footsteps

On the stairs

And your black dress

It still hangs

In my wardrobe

Here is some background information relating to The Suffolk Murders that somehow did not form part of the prosecution case. It didn't appear to be processed via witness statements, or possibly was not included in any witness statement.

I am referring to the case against Steve Wright and as much of the evidence was fibre related this aspect would have been of interest.

I was in touch with fibre experts at the time and it's a shame we never got to discuss the following.

In the back of Steve Wright's Ford Mondeo was a red picnic blanket ( complete with an abundance of fibres ), red fibres were located on some of the bodies but were not accounted for.

Steve Wright had disposed of the picnic blanket pre arrest and so l don't think Suffolk Police ever made the connection ( apologies if l am wrong ).

After the trial had taken place this information was made public.

I wonder if Pamela Wright ( partner of Steve Wright ) was ever asked about the red fabric - maybe not.

Another aspect of the case is that the extensive array of clothes, shoes, bags and phones etc and girl's personal belongings were never found.

I believe these were put into a black bin liner and buried - possibly using building materials - either on separate occasions or on a single occasion.

This was the theory of one of the surviving girl's.

NB. Some of the info on this thread comes from published works but quite a bit of it has not been in the public domain. I know there are journalists from national newspapers scanning this thread and if it is a starter for them on any subject then l have no problem with them using it in any way that they wish.

Furthermore, several of them have my email address and should the occasion arise l am willing to assist ( zero fees ) on topics covered.

I had no idea this thread would still be going after all these months and was going to stop at 10,000 views, however, since then, the viewers have increased quite a bit.

A little more on Robin Gunningham if l may.

I have been in contact today with the ( Daily Mail ) journalist who identified Banksy after an extensive amount of work in the Bristol area in 2008.

It was interesting for me to confirm with her where he was living a few years previously in East London and to underpin the very close association with The Wild Bunch who evolved into Massive Attack.

Robin's method of using stencils was in effect an accident

He was hiding under a railway truck from the ( railway ) police for around an hour and he noticed the stencilled plate on the under carriage of the truck. That was the moment that changed his life, enabling a method to put graphics images up at speed with the spray guns he was already most accomplished in using.

So the transition from spray guns to creating the images with stencils would take him on the most incredible journey that is still evolving - and it happened by chance.

The other aspect of the railway truck incident is that he realised that he had to be anonymous as what he was doing was effectively illegal and shortly after this he took on the identity of Banksy.

I can't say l knew this back in 2005 but l am pleased to have listed his website details in Dirty Blonde at the Cash Machine the following year.

Quite a bit has fallen into place in his story.

And all of it is brilliant!

RESPECT TO BANKSY

Here is something that was supposed to have appeared in one of the books that has been lost since 2007 when l moved. Maybe it was better for being lost, but anyway ......

THIS IS WHAT IT'S LIKE

Their muffled footsteps
Distorted voices
Drifting away
Through the rubber doors
Leading to the Sizewell plains
The place that l had been telling them about
For four hours
Where l saw them
Moonbathers
Fifty metres apart
Listening
To static interference
Through reconditioned government headsets
In 3D glasses
Watching the cloud formation
A projected monochrome photograph
Taken in March 1954
Their white gloved hands
Connected to blue wires
Plugged into giant speakers
In the compound
Where l saw her
The waitress on the escalator
The day before the aeroplane crashed
In a field in the Norfolk countryside
With the loss
Of 134 lifesize dummies
Watching a silent film
About a reflection
And l find myself
In this underpass
Treading splinters of glass
When the waitress walks past
A casual glance
Then she disappears
Into the night

Here is a piece that Peter Doherty wrote for FULL MOON EMPTY SPORTS BAG around '05.

Waking in London
Beaches of muddy iron filings
Bubbled under
Puddles of rain
Soaped wet water
Fitzrovia splashes in the dips
Of her curbs ( kerbs / Peter? )
As l slip her a folded fifty
In to a clammy glove
And skip off the pavement
By the 'Kebabish City'
Lick lick fry chick chat
Does fixing up rot your teeth?
What about mine
In the sweet by and by
My crooked smile
From one too many sad goodbyes
( the west end is piles of rusting pedals and blank metal stares ).

Written at speed and without spellcheck facility by PD as by hand.

NB. Some very interesting film footage from this time will be available in the next few days.

LUCY METCALFE

Lucy, Lucy,
Lucy Metcalfe ....

You just came into my mind
After all this time
Looking in an hour glass
I saw you
I saw us
Fumbling around
In the back of my car
In a turning
With a wooden gate
Behind The Hare and Hounds

Over the months
We must have spoken quite a bit
But l can only remember
One thing that you said
With any degree of certainty
'l don't use any hair products'

One night
You got out of my car in bare feet
And trod on a snail
It upset you
I cleaned your foot with my sock
Which l threw onto a branch
Maybe it's still hanging there

I imagine you got married
Had kids....
Though perhaps now
You may be divorced
Alone in a cottage
By the softest of candlelight
By a shelf of insightful books

What was it about you that l liked?

Your full mouth
And your bright eyes
The goose bumps
That would form on your thighs

You loved the rabbits
Scurrying around
In the headlights
Said l would get you one
To take home
But, l never did

Lucy, Lucy,
Lucy Metcalfe
When l think about it now
I must have loved you
But l never said
Did l?

Jamie, Jamie,
Jamie O'Brien
You just floated into my mind
After all this time
Looking in the soap suds
I saw you
I saw us
Walking down a country lane
By a turning
With a long white gate

Over that time
We had endless conversations
But l can only recall
A single sentence you uttered
With any degree of clarity
'My real Dad took his own life'

One night
I ran from your car across a field
You chased me into the woods
I got caught in the brambles
You carefully set me free
It's a leisure centre now

I imagine you got married
Had kids
Settled down
A semi detached
In a quiet place in town
I wonder if you still wash your car
On Saturday mornings

What was it l liked about you?

Your strong arms
But your gentle touch
The way you made me feel special
Every time we touched

You loved your music
Said you'd play in a band
Promised to write a song about me
But you never did

Jamie, Jamie,
Jamie O'Brien
When l think about you now
I must have loved you
But l never said so
Did I?

If anyone has read 'Lucy Metcalfe' l have added 'Jamie O'Brien' as the second part which l just wrote in my head walking back from town and it isn't quite the same words but it's impossible to remember. I have to write fast and live with it.

The images on the second part came from a dog walk last night in Mistley Woods near Manningtree.

Something strange happened on the drive back to Colchester. I heard a chorus of angels ( ? ) singing for about 15 seconds above the volume of my White Lies CD that was playing in my car as l passed the cricket ground / church area of Mistley.

I actually looked for them ....not sure if this is a form of madness and it's the second time in my life l have had a strange audio experience.

Perhaps something connected when l looked into the faces of creatures in the 800 year old tree about 20 minutes before.

It's an area frequented by folk with an interest in the paranormal .....but just a nice family of Ipswich Town supporters there last night.

It's Witchfinder General territory too....Hashtag Matthew Hopkins and Co.

The sound thing.

I had a brief encounter with a senior member of the clergy close to my home in Colchester in December 2006.

He was dressed in a purple robe and l'm still not sure what that signified.

QUOTING FROM 'IPSWICH ZERO 6' -

'I asked him point blank if he had any idea as to how a deja vu with scent ( perfume ) as it's base could be explained in a human or religious way.

The amazing thing was that with each word that l uttered the sound seemed to travel on for miles. It was the purest sound of my voice or any voice l had ever heard.

I was actually looking past him across into the distance and could see these houses reflecting the sunlight about two miles away. At that moment l was convinced that anyone else in those houses and beyond could hear what l was saying.

He didn't offer any explanation, and off he went. Sometimes l wonder if the conversation ever took place. It was surreal, almost beyond anything in a dream'.

Whatever l heard on Wednesday evening in the car for that short time was similar in that it reverberated and echoed in enhanced audio.

This morning at around 7am l was on high open ground and there was birdsong in the distance, yet the sound seemed much closer.

Around 50 metres away were a couple speaking and their sound waves were muffled, just as l would expect.

I was looking for the birds but couldn't see them.

As humans we have a limited method of processing incoming sound, unlike animals.

It's all about frequency levels and l get that.

But what if humans once possessed a much higher frequency level to convert from sound waves?

Back to the deja vu experience that took place in my home a day or so before the encounter with the man in the purple robe.

It was a strong and distinctive fragrance of perfume worn by a girl that l knew to be dead who had spent the evening at my home about a few months prior.

I was watching the TV on my sofa and at first the fragrance was quite faint, then it gradually became stronger to the point that it was inches away and swirling around me.

It was so powerful l started looking around the room and ventured into other parts of the house and garden.

As with the enhanced sound l mention above this was enhanced sense of smell on an incredible level.

I think as a human race that as we evolve our senses change....some decreasing while others may increase.

RAIL TICKET

To the mortuary
And there you lay
On a trolley
Still
Stoney silent

But in the next room
A tap is dripping
Some rhythmic pulse

And it dawned on me
That none of us
Will ever be still or silent
In our lifetime

Breathing
Gently moving
While under
The surgeon's knife
Or unconscious

They called me
Said you were being transferred
Which is a kinder way
Of saying
From conditions of refrigeration
To those of the freezer

You look angelic
As beautiful as at any time
In your twenty three years

I kiss you on each eye
Just like l did
While you were alive
That October night
When you said
'No one else ever did that'
You were still holding
Your rail ticket

THE BALLAD OF LILY ALLEN

We find ourselves
Sharing this battered sofa
With it's cigarette burns
And tales of drunken nights
Of chaos and carnage
Here in Shoreditch UK

It's Wednesday morning
Eleven am
We could be here
To see a therapist
A journalist
Or a street artist
Such is the allure
Of this Old Street location

Now l can study you
Close up and personal
LRBA
Arrived on the second of May
A journey that has taken you
From council estate
To Number One
In the singles charts
With some stop off's
Along the way

You smile
It seems apt
And your fragrance
Is in keeping
With your original career goal
As a florist

The receptionist
Seems invisible
Perhaps another late night
At an awards ceremony
At China White

Your bag is open
I find it difficult
Not to glimpse inside
I wonder
What treasures it hides
Ecstasy?
Your violin?
The handwritten lyrics
To 'Smile'?

The receptionist arrives
She looks like
She's been up all night
And can't wipe
The sleep from her eyes
She apologises

Soon there is
The aroma of coffee beans
A motorcycle messenger arrives
And leaves a package on the desk
Which l duly sign for

It's time to go
Our separate ways
We shake hands
You turn to the left
But l find myself
Chasing you
Down the corridor
With your bag
That you left
On the sofa

You are appreciative
And you smile again ....

This long thread begins with the death of Mark Blanco at Fieldgate Mansions, Romford Street, Whitechapel in East London in December 2006.

I have been sent an original newspaper feature tonight in it's pre edited / subbed form which is quite a bit longer and more expansive than the published edition which occupied the space allocated last September. ( National Press ).

I can't say the entire piece includes anything confidential but it is very well written and covers all the corners between the journalist and her contributors.

We used to call the space occupied by a newspaper piece column inches, perhaps it is now referred to as column centimetres. What ends up online is often reduced in word count as allowances appear to be made for attention
span.

The mother of Mark Blanco - Mrs Sheila Blanco has suggested that there may have been elements of police corruption during the initial investigation ( or extreme lack of investigation ). This has been referred to in the media.

During and before 2006 ( and after ) there appears to be interaction involving individuals that have links to stories appearing in certain red tops along with persons featured who were subject to phone hacking.

There is some considerable overlap here and l was in receipt of a list of hundreds of people who were hacked - there are many common denominators in this list.

I don't think any media organisation has ever put the entire spider's web together. Maybe someone else has, but as yet, l have never seen it.

As it happens, the phone hacking was a very simple task - but what was required was the phone numbers.

Apart from the phone hacking / media leaks there was other local activity at the time.

Extracts of a letter written to Peter Doherty.

'The guy in the room next to me was turned over and taken away by the cops tonight, can't say l'm sorry, all the nonsense was keeping me up all night and driving dubious traffic past my door'.

'Within half an hour, xxxxx'x friend xxxxx had got in through the window and cleaned out all the valuables including a five foot wide-screen'.

'My iPhone was stolen last week and so communication has been difficult. This 'letter' is difficult, damn difficult....'

'Peter pestered me for the number, which l reluctantly gave in to. He must have gone down to Kent the next day and taken some of the paintings with him to sell to xxxxx as he came back with ยฃ6,000 in cash'.

'Oh, quite a nice little windfall then for the artwork'.

'Yeah, kind of, but he got robbed of the cash within hours of getting back'.

'xxxxxxx hell, who by?'

'I think it was Asian drug dealers who were watching his movements'.

'Right, so another robbery that wouldn't be reported even though it was effectively his legitimate earnings'.

'Yeah, suppose ...I'll go for the Spanish Omelette and Chips l think'.

'Mmm me too....'

'Have you moved house yet?'

'Next Friday l think'

'Am l invited?'

More from the Brick Lane conversations -

'Peter was tagging....using a syringe to paint images, most often hearts on his circuit'.

'What was the circuit ?'

'Mostly around here but sometimes he would venture further afield'.

'So, this may have been prompted by the Banksy and Adam Neate work that was popping up around here then'.

'Yeah, maybe, but if anything Peter had a wider playing field as he was adept at introducing the hearts to hotel rooms, studio walls, flats, squats and a wide range of interiors'.

'Your kitchen cupboards included then'.

'Yeah, and most of my friend's places too'.

The name of Mark Beevers will be unfamiliar to most people. Mark answered an advertisment relating to song lyrics for a new band ( late nineties ). The band ( their vision ) were ambitious to say the least but at that stage were unknown and possibly still to confirm their identity.

They emerged as The Libertines and some of the words and ideas that Mark Beevers wrote would appear intermittently in work by both The Libertines and Babyshambles. Mark was never credited as such ( as far as l understand ) but it appears that the song 'Albion' that is attributed to Peter Doherty may have been inspired by a piece known as 'The Ship of Albion' by Beevers.

It is fair to say though that Peter Doherty reworked the concept into the version that is known from Babyshambles with imagery of English life that is reminiscent of Ray Davies at his best.

I used to think the lines about 'drinking gin from tea cups' may have related to a certain place in 2003 / 04 but the concept could have pre-dated that.

Either way, there is enough content in the song from Doherty for his ownership to it. There are references in there to London and England that he observed and managed to translate into poetic cameos with some interesting twists and turns.

As an aside, someone asked the meaning of 'Shotters Nation'.....a title some will be familiar with ...to quote one of Peter's friends - 'Shotters are kids who sell ยฃ10 shots or deals of crack or smack, so Britain is a shotter's nation because it is full of teenagers shotting'.

The term appears to have originated from an individual by the name of Luke Marcelle. He mentioned it to a friend of Peter's who then used it as an album title.

Peter would admit that he has 'collected' many words, phrases and concepts from a circle of people that have become content in his work, and dovetailed them into songs with quite a degree of craftsmanship.
