The same Scargill who killed the British coal industry.

As we are all struggling with rising costs of energy bills on 16:03 - Jul 29 by Kilkennyjack | I certainly do not advocate a model in which Wales always votes labour, but the decisions are then made by an English Tory government in London. Been here for 100 years. I want all decisions impacting Wales to be taken by welsh people, in wales. A democratic model. My vote would be for a socialist progressive party. I respect that you and others will want something else. We debate, we vote - and wales will be better for it. The lapdog wales model of George Thomas is nearly dead. Good. |
As opposed to lapdog Drakeford who has always done what Corbyn, Starmer and the Unions tell him to the detriment of Wales.

Now, now, he doesn't do what Starmer tells him. Apparently Starmer doesn't like him because he's a Corbynite.

As we are all struggling with rising costs of energy bills on 15:25 - Jul 27 by Luther27 | Record profits…again, and not the only energy company that will post extremely high profits. Supermarkets…record profits….Banks….record profits. Water companies denying a G7 country the human right of clean drinking water whilst lowering the standards of effluent treatment. All the above are allowed to get away with it because of a total lack of Governance by our political hierarchy. When Labour get into power nothing will change apart from headline grabbing sound bites. I absolutely despair it has come to this. |
Any body with cash over 18 can buy shares in these companies and share in the profits notionally. British Gas (Centrica) is not giving me much money. 2- 3% perhaps. The share were £3 about 5 years ago went as low as 30p in Covid and now 120p. Their CEO is filling his boots but nothing compared to Premier league managers of very small organisations. Nothing will change as the price of gas has got very little to do with HM Government or the regulator. It is global. Everyone has to pay the gong rate unless they cut back. Cutting back is good for the environment. The water authorities are different. Dwr Cymru are at least not for profit. Thamas Water needs looking at if McQuarrie bank have been guilty of sharp practice.

As we are all struggling with rising costs of energy bills on 12:43 - Jul 29 by SullutaCreturned | Scargill ruined lives too and he gave Thatcher all the excuses she needed. he's as guilty as she is. I wonder how the miners and the NUM would have reacted to the drive for green power? What would they say if the government went eco friendly and simply closed the mines because they are destroying the climate? |
Thatcher used the full power of the state to destroy the coal industry and the trade union. She used the police as her enforcers and even passed legislation to seize the union funds. Fascism at it’s most effective

Dwr Cymru should be tasked with getting the best value from the water in Wales for the benefit of Wales. We need all the help we can get. Welsh water is processed by the non profit Dwr Cymru, then "sold" to English water companies at no profit, who then sell it on, at a profit. Of course …. The people of Wales do not benefit from this arrangement. Its another Westmonster con. Annibyniaeth. 🏴

On this I agree. Sell the water to other water companies at a profit and use that money to improve infrastructure.

Not true that Wales gives Water away free to England. The water companies have to pay an abstraction fee for every litre of Water transfered to Wales.

Wonder if killy would be happy for Wales to pay extra for the Nuclear generated electricity from England. 15% of Wales electricity comes from Nuclear power stations all situated in England. I bet he has been happy to use North Sea gas and oil for the last 50 years as well. It is one of the benefits of being part of the UK we all get to share UK assets.

When I worked in BP llandarcy refinery, we used to get oil from all over the world. North sea oil was just a small part of it. We had crudes mostly from the middle east and Russia. Middle eastern crudes were waxy and tended to be better for lub oils etc, but north sea oil was lighter, and so better for motor spirit and LPG extraction. Just a bit of useless info!
