Play offs (or not) 08:45 - Mar 7 with 6945 views | TheChef | While there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth about our drop in form - and whether we will make the play offs or not - are we missing the key question? If we do make it into the play offs, does anyone actually expect us to win them? IMO if we do make the play offs it would be a fantastic achievement. But do I think we'll win them and get promoted? No.

Play offs (or not) on 08:37 - Mar 9 with 2008 views | BAWHoops | I think reaching the Play Off's would put us ahead of schedule! We probably still need one summer of trading to properly furnish the squad. I look at what Brentford did and they sold Gray, Hogan, Maupay, Watkins, Benhrama across 4/5 years to build their squad which now looks likely to survive in the Prem. We've sold Freeman and Eze across 2 years. The reality is that one of Chair or Willock will go this summer plus one of Dickie/Dieng/Dykes... this is no bad thing. We've built our current squad off the back of selling 2 players and improved it from what we had... we now need to sell a few more and add to a promising collective of players. We probably need to do that twice to be in a position to challenge for promotion

Play offs (or not) on 08:40 - Mar 9 with 1992 views | MelakaRanger | I think anything less than 6th will be viewed by the majority of fans as a failure. Just a month ago we had games in hand againys teams that we should have beaten easily and gone into 2nd place. We are now 7th and if current form continues we will end up 10th or 11th. At the begiining of this season we had momentum on an upward trajectory. Next season could start with the complete opposite. Something big time went wrong at the club about Christmas time. sure we won a few after Christmas but other than the Reading game we didnt deserve to. I worry that this drop in form is not a temporary blip - its been going on too long for that. I've posed the question earlier. Warbs has done wonders for this club but has he reached the limits of his abilities? To move on to the next level do we need to be ruthless and make big changes at the end of the season? Of course its possible that the switch gets turned back on and we win the next 10 games. But lose at Luton and Forest and we will most likely be 10th and thats it for the season then. The next two games will either restart our season or consign us to the biggest waste of an opportunity since when Mark Hughes took over

Hardly the biggest waste of an opportunity - you make it sound like by making the play offs then we are bound to get promoted. It would be disappointing to miss out on the play offs but hopefully it will still be an improvement on the season before. The season isn't over yet.

Play offs (or not) on 10:10 - Mar 9 with 1792 views | Silverfoxqpr | Ok hands up I'm a glass half full sort but that aside there are still 11 games and 33 points left to play for, literally ANYTHING can still happen. Worth noting for example the mighty Boro have lost 3 out of their last 5 and Blackburn have lost 2 from the last 5, winning only one. it's that silly time of the season which seems to happen every year without fail, especially in the Championship. Keep the faith.

Indeed. Who predicted that Boro would get gumped 4-1 last night?

I think we lose in the semi finals to be honest. I've watched Boro/Shef U/Forest and Huddersfield recently and they all looked better than us. A final anything can happen. Blackburn probably the weakest of the lot and we could have got something if we hadn't sat back and played for 0-0 at theirs. Not sure about Luton. They see us as a bogey team, so a win on Sunday wouldn't go amiss.
Play offs (or not) on 11:04 - Mar 9 with 1674 views | T_Block | BAW Hoops is correct.Don't see any relevance in most of the other comments, most appear confusingly negative. As someone said it is key we trust Warbs and co to develop the club. Recent form is due to a lack of options up front such that an opposition high line restricts space and time for our midfield plus in all fairness they are a little tired. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Play offs (or not) on 11:05 - Mar 9 with 1669 views | Toast_R | Our semi final record is pretty good (immaculate even since I've been a fan). I'd back us to make the final over two legs if we somehow re-discover our form and make the play offs. Huge IF though. [Post edited 9 Mar 2022 11:07]

| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot

That's not how cup draws work. Just because a team that beat us got a certain team in the draw, it doesn't mean QPR would have had the same team. It's still random.

True. However the two teams who knocked us out of the cups did get Arsenal and City in their next rounds, so it’s as good an indicator of who we (might) play next.

Play offs (or not) on 12:06 - Mar 9 with 1530 views | Antti_Heinola | I think we haven't blown it yet, but at the same time having expected us to finish 4th or 5th all season, I now think we'll finish 9th or 10th. We have too many very hard away games, and our away form as dropped off a cliff. HOWEVER. Barnsley won ONE game between 17th August and playing us on 12th Feb. After us they beat Hull, and Messageboard darlings Boro and drew with Stoke. Remarkably, they could conceivably still escape relegation. My point is, I can't see us pulling out of this nose dive, nor can many others... But sometimes one result changes things dramatically. Last year, it was our win at Luton...

Play offs (or not) on 12:42 - Mar 9 with 1448 views | mikeygunn | My hope for this season was to beat last seasons 68 points. If we do that, then that for me is progress. Which will be the third year in a row. Progress again next season will undoubtedly be the playoffs.

Play offs (or not) on 09:02 - Mar 7 by Rs_Holy | no chance of getting past the semi's but it would be a little bit exciting in the build up and would give us something to build on. |
Could some of our fans take a playoff defeat without creating havoc?Especially if it came at an away semi final 2nd leg?Or would our 30,000+ fans walk away from Wembley if we get trounced in the final? I think it’s better to miss out on them rather than lose in them, from a fans point of view anyway. It would be better for the players to get the experience of playing in them I guess.
Play offs (or not) on 14:44 - Mar 9 with 1263 views | derbyhoop | On current form I'd say we miss out. On form from the start of 2021 to end of Jan 2022 then yes, we'd reach playoffs. Are we good enough to do it? Probably. But we have many hard games left, nearly all of them away. If we did, could we win it? Not convinced. Results aagainst Peterborough, Barnsley, Cardiff and Hull suggest underlying weaknesses. How would we fare in the PL? Probably finish rock bottom. Can anybody see Albert, Wallace, Stef and Charlie in a PL side?

It's a good point. Stating the obvious here, but it will go one of two ways. Either we will kick-start our season again beginning with Luton and if that happens we certainly are good enough for top 6. Or we will slide quietly down to tenth and not even match last years total. We need to win 7 of our last 11, which seems a big ask. The minimum I would hope for is to hit the 70 point mark

Not true. The number ball you are in the FA Cup draw coincides with the number your tie was to come out of the hat. So if QPR v Luton comes out as the third tie drawn for the 4th round, the winner will be number three in the 5th round draw. For the 3rd round, the winners from Round 2 are numbered as above but the teams entering in the 3rd round are numbered in alphabetical order.

Yes mine were from Paddy Power. On a general point, interesting, (To those who don't see betting as "The big evil thing"), is that SkyBet and Paddy Power are owned by the same company, but will obviously have different odds on the same markets. To do with the state of the 'book' on each market I guess.
