Star Wars - The Last Jedi 00:12 - Dec 15 with 15021 views | Hooped_Pullie | Anyone else seen it yet ? Verdicts, opinions ? (Preferably spoiler-free for those yet to go)... Saw it today at a 12.20pm show in the Enfield Cineworld - place was rammed out, so odd-feeling for the day and time. I guess only Star Wars could do that these days, plenty around me had clearly taken time off work to be there. Sat right next to a trendy young couple who couldn't stop fidgeting and eventually left twenty minutes before the end of the film. Fomo their motivation, I assume, but bloody annoying. As for the film... I thought a decent 9/10 - doesn't disappoint overall, but I'd agree with those critics who've said it drags in the middle. It definitely does, and it's a pity because lopping off 20 minutes would really have made a very good film even better. I won't give anything away, but if I were to be tempted I'd say the surprises lie more in what doesn't happen than what does. Hamill has never been better as Luke, and most of Carrie Fisher's scenes (particularly in the final hour of the film) are almost unbearably poignant. Everyone else in the cast is good as well, it must be said. If you're a fan, I think it'll deliver for you, it did for me.
Star Wars - The Last Jedi on 01:48 - Dec 15 with 8028 views | UPPERLOFTNZ | Great FX, Pretty good sound track, a few half decent cameos from Dern And Del Toro but overall truly, truly awful. The Script was obviously written but committee and was full of holes, and there were sooo many art of the plot that simply made no sense, it was an embarrassment. Rogue was a good movie this was a complete waste of 2 hours.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi on 15:09 - Dec 15 with 7780 views | toboboly | Absolutely terrible. Just back from watching it. Terrible script, poor acting, woeful storyline. It is up there with the prequels for awful, awful movies. None of it made any sense, a lazy movie with no emotion, drama, or even understanding of the subject material. Entire movie summed up in the first 5 minutes, a joke for 10 year olds and hipsters. 1/10 and that is being generous.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi on 13:39 - Dec 16 with 7620 views | BlackCrowe | I'd give it a 6 or 7/10 (last one Force Awakens was a solid 8 for me). It's veering towards being a bit Disney again with things like the porgs being prime example. The main newer characters like Finn and Ray irritate. Chinese girl and crystal foxes very good.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi on 13:58 - Dec 16 with 7608 views | Ashdown_Ranger | Saw it last night. A bit slow to start, reasonably interesting storyline, warmed up towards the end. Some nice touches and effects, but felt I was watching an episode of Star Trek at times. Really felt some of the new peripheral characters/creatures were simply there for the toy sales. And a new Asian actor/character wasn't really fleshed out and (being the cynic I am) suspect was brought in to boost the Star Wars franchise in the Far East (a bit like like us signing Park Ji Sing). Ultimately quite entertaining, but missing an edge of 'darkness'. Don't think this was as good as The Force Awakens or Rogue One, but infinitely better than those awful 'prequels'. 6.5 out of 10. Oh, amused to see Ade Edmondson in there as a deputy 'baddie' ;)

I'm with you. It was meandering, shoddy, repetitive drivel. One thing though - I watched it at a matinee full of 10 year olds and they were bored and restless for most of it.... kids film is never an excuse for a bad film and no child is as stupid as a stupid adult. I did like Snoke's Jodorowsky style red guard room though (even though they fudged the fight there). The bizarre Luke drinking milk scene is going to live long in the memory too. Also The Iron...

my kid really enjoyed it although was getting a bit restless in the middle, the whole casino bit could have been cut from it It was one of those films that I think will divide opinion mainly due to the big choices they made and the direction they took the story, I thought some of the things they did with the story didn't really work but overall i felt the force awakens was all about nostalgia for the old characters but this one really did pass the torch to the new characters and i cared a lot more about them than I did after the first film

Encouraged to read your last sentence after reading others saying it was not as good as the last one - I thought that was OK but added nothing to the original other than replacing a genuinely mesmeric villain with a whiny teenager. Which was bad because I could imagine Darth Vader holding together an evil empire through sheer terror but I couldn't work out how The New Order (or whatever they were called) managed to sign up vast armies of storm troopers when they were totally trashed at the end of the previous episode and "join the Dark Side and get to work for a bunch of psychopaths" seems weak as a recruitment advert - maybe they just like the white suits, or there's a shortage of jobs for people who can't shoot straight in A Galaxy Far Far Away) The one thing that kept me watching was Daisy Ridley who I thought had real star quality - bags of charisma. So I'll be happy if she's centre stage.

I thought it was better than Force awakens and had the added bonus of Ade Edmonson in it although was disappointed he didn't hit anyone with a frying pan. Kylo Ren is a lot better in this one but I don't think will ever be as sinister as vader was. i won't spoil it but there are two major things in the film which i think will divide people
Star Wars - The Last Jedi on 01:16 - Dec 17 with 7276 views | PunteR | Not as good as Force Awakens but still a decent film. Luke Skywalker was great but yeh that milk scene was bizarre. The first scene reminded me of Spaceballs but still funny, in fact the film had loads of genuinely funny scenes. Kylo Ren is excellent and old Skywalker . Not perfect but still good fun and a million times better than the original sequels.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi on 10:24 - Dec 17 with 7152 views | PunteR | Just a few negatives. I dont think Oscar Issacs Poe Dameron carries the same lovable rogue charm as Harrison Fords Solo. Which i think this trilogy is missing. And they didnt really develop Fins character either which is a shame as he was great in Force Awakens. The middle bit of the film was clunky and that casino scene was on par with the two pod race commentators in Phantom Menace. Just didnt seem to fit into the Star Wars universe. But still, i enjoyed the film and had some great scenes in there. Plenty of lightsaber action and jedi shenanigans. [Post edited 17 Dec 2017 10:36]
