Eh? I don't think anyone said it was acceptable. If true, it's a police incident and not political and nor should it or would it impact the way you vote. Given the situation the police were facing that night, I don't think anyone has the right to criticize them especially as we know next to nothing about what happened.
Certainly wouldn't look good if had May mouthing off about a Corbyn being against shoot to kill, as she was a few days ago, if the next headline was police accidentally shoot man trying to help victim would it.
But I'm sure there's nothing sinister about this information being withheld.

But Corbyn also said that the police used the right level of force that night.

So, the tories still made an issue out of his former position as if it was one of weakness rather than one of caution against innocents being shot. That forced him to speak specifically about the topic in the wake of the incident.
Breaking news: looks like the Spanish hero who defended a woman who was being stabbed was accidentally shot by the police who thought he was a terrorist. Apparently the news is being withheld until after the election.
Only available in Spanish at the moment, so probably not much use to folks on here, although roughly the video says that the narrator spoke with some reporters who say it is almost definite the Spaniard was shot by the police because he was down on the ground and they thought he was one of the jihadists. That obviously it's not 100% but nearly sure. That it is not being made public until after the election because it would damage Teresa May. That similar hidden things happen in Spain but that now we see it here in the UK as well and that it is a "mafioso situation".
All gone quiet on this conspiracy theory. Has this been put to bed now? Ie. the police did not accidentally shoot an innocent person?
