ayew on 18:08 - Jan 2 by angryjack | when because you score a goal doesnt make you a good player |
We have lots of good players that can't score goals at the moment. Ayew not playing well (in your opinion) but scoring is fine by me.

ayew on 18:06 - Jan 2 by Huw57 | As a winger he is more than capable, as he has done numerous times this season. |
Playing as a winger allows him to arrive late in the box and find space, which is why he scored a few. As a winger he offers nothing else. Not necessarily a problem as there are different sort of wide players in a 4231, 433. Jon Walters at Stoke plays wide right often and he's great at arriving in the box late, and good in the air just like Ayew. But Walters has the strength too so can pull into the channels and be used as an outlet. Ayew doesn't really do that. Maybe he just doesn't suit us or we need a new manager to get the best out of him.

ayew on 18:12 - Jan 2 by DanGom1 | Made a few intelligent runs, was nice and tidy in possession and never stopped trying and gave the United defenders plenty to think about. But unless you score out of nothing then you're obviously rubbish clearly! |
Ayew wasn't helped by the ref either, by allowing lSmalling to kick 10 colours of shyte out of him.

Oh we can lay our hands on money if need be...thats not a problem. The biggest problem we have is the team is not motivated enough to win...we need a new manager and soon to whip them back into shape....

He's an inside forward, likes to occupy the space between centre back and fullback as well as working off the centre forward. That only works in a system where fullbacks create the width and push up when in attack. That's why Klopp wanted him at Dortmund as he loves to play fullbacks as wingers affectively and bring the wider men narrow to occupy that space that Ayew loves to play in. Fairly sure he's be ver been a Target man before in his career. Still managed to hit the post today.

ayew on 19:10 - Jan 2 with 1508 views | jack247 | Ayew isn't a centre forward, he is just filling in until we are able to sign a decent one.

I think you may be right but the question remains, when we've got a decent striker, what do we do with Ayew then?
ayew on 19:25 - Jan 2 with 1461 views | marchamjack | I posted a few months ago...Ayew is clearly a very good player, just don't know where he fits for us. Haven't changed my mind on that since, if anything, even more unsure as time has gone on. I accept we'd be even worse off without his goals, but he just looks a square peg in a round hole. Hope we can make him fit.
| Oh,..Dave, what's occuring? |

I don't know. I don't agree with the op, but I can see where he is coming from. Without his goal threat, from wide or wherever we play him, Ayew would be a liability. He is by far our most likely goalscorer though, so we have to find a place for him. I'd like to think that if we managed to sign a striker who links well with Gylfi, that would create spaces for the likes of Ayew, Routledge, etc to Attack from the wings.

" the team is not motivated enough to win" sorry apart from Ki JJS and possibly Gomis the team looks to have plenty of motivation. Even Gomis as a sub seems more motivated than before.

Not a big Gomis fan, but as an impact sub, I thought he was OK today and obviously scored a blinder at City. Barrow also looks a threat from the bench.
