If they had behaved honourably and offered £75 million in the summer rather than the tapping up nonsense we would have taken it. He hasn't played as well as last season so on the face of it fair enough. The important thing now is what is done with the money. Going to be really cheesed off if the majority just disappears out to help finance the new owner's purchase cost. Need replacement CB and 'traditional' holding CF. Board needs to back MP with right players now or get rid. Going to be in amongst it in the second half of the season so need to know club is all pulling together. Owners and Board need to up their communication with the fans.

Glad to se him go. He isn’t worth £75M, and maybe the team will settle down now after the disruption he created in the summer. Let’s hope we come out of this with a stronger more cohesive team with the investment of this money.

Totally echo your thoughts on it Freddie, it was always going to be a done deal, glad we got £75m a record deal so we really made Liverpool pay for their previous arrogance imo! Now let's get on with the Saints agenda and get some new players in to get our season back on track! Though I still have my doubts about the manager, I think it might just fix some of his problems with the team more focussed for the rest of the season.

We can't pretend we didn't know it was going to happen (especially after the summer transfer request went in) but Saints did well to report Liverpool for the "tapping-up" episode, and as predicted there was some disappointment / panic from some Kopites. We did well to hold off until now, as Liverpool must have expected to be much better than struggling for fourth place at Christmas, so it's not surprising that they came back. I can't forsee any situation (in the near future) where we're likely to get £75 million for any player...(guess Les Reed must be a darn good poker player)...let's see what he can pull out of the bag in January. The deal is gold-plated for Saints and the way we normally do business we can surely expect to get 2-3 "good class" players... andperhaps still have a few million over. Whether MP will still be here to take the team forward reamins an open question but one thing is for sure...the team is in for yet another transitional period and I hope that we can see if the likes of McQueen, Hesketh and Josh Sims have been worth the effort after spending almost their entire childhood / youth in the Academy.

Best thing all round, move on. better players have gone for less. It is good money for someone who doesn't want to play for you, while hojberg and Hoedt step up to the mark now we need a Goalscorer !! why do people want to play at Saints North !! listen to there fans and watch the passion in the manager and the team they are assembling. Some teams have to but success, Saints continue to grow it.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Stoke City Polls |
