Could the wait be finally over tomorrow?
Could the wait be finally over tomorrow?

Will it be a case of thank god it's Friday? Or is the only certain thing about tomorrow is the weather forecast?

Rumour has swept the city of Leeds today that the takeover of our club will finally be done and dusted as early as tomorrow.

Much of it has been fuelled by the registration of a new Leeds United company called Leeds United Vision.

A solitary director by the name of Keith Allen has been named. Mr Allen is believed to be the husband of Leeds United director Yvonne.

The suspicion is that Leeds have amalgamated the various network of companies relating to the club under one umbrella, so the final part of the deal can go through.

Howver rumour grew that it can all be sorted by tomorrow.

Let's hope so!

For some, the end of the Ken Bates era cannot come soon enough. I have mixed views (as ever) having spoken to the great man, I actually liked him and when all is said and done there were not that many people with any serious money willing to take us on back in 2005.

People will say he ran Leeds United to make a profit for himself, but isn't that what successful businessmen are meant to do?

I'm not an expert on company law to debate the ins and outs of the lowest ebb, when we went into administration in 2007, however with hindsight Bates was probably a better option than that of Simon Morris, who was later convicted of backmailing a business rival and jailed for 18 months.

My criticism of Bates was his failure to back Simon Grayson in last summer's transfer market and unwillingness to offer better salaries to our better players, in turn forcing Grayson to snap up deadbeat journeymen and lots of loan players pushing our wage bill up anyway!

It remains to be seen if Bates will finally leave football after half a century involved, or take on another challenge. If I was him I'd enjoy my retirement with his lovely wife (Susannah Bates is a nice lady) and keep chipping in with his razor sharp wit every so often.

I doubt the new owners will keep him on as a figurehead chairman, a role he did at Chelsea post his sale to Abravomich where alledgedly programme sales dived by 10% when he stopped writing his columns!

I doubt they could afford the libel fees!
