Pitch can't be an excuse and wouldn't be for a team for a team aiming for promotion - need to plan for these sort of away games and have the ability to adapt and get a result.

Lacklustre and passive, second best in desire, fitness, organisation and tactics. No idea why McBride played as the central forward with Rodney as inside right - bizarre. It's this sort of game that makes JM look like more of a coach than a manager.

Must be too much to ask to ensure we don't give anything away early doors when playing away to one of the best teams in the league who've won every home home game so far and smarting on the back of two away defeats, and effectively repeat exactly what we did here last season. You could already see they were pressing high in the first couple of mins. Not even naivety, it's stupidity.

Their two left sided players were excellent. Would happily have either of them join us.

Agree, was frustrating to watch. There were a few occasions where the ultra-safe option was taken and the ball went back/sideways when there was space to move into, and forward passes to be tried, as if the instruction was just to keep the ball at all costs. You win games by being progressive and taking a few risks, not constantly recycling possession.

3 year plan for promotion but if we're still at this level in 2 years we won't be achieving it playing pedestrian football at home, particularly against teams in the bottom half. Aspiring managers like Jim play this way partly because they want to progress their careers and be noticed but as a playing style it isn't going to get you out of a division like this. Passing football as a philosophy is great and better than lumping it but it has to be much quicker and with greater purpose that what we just saw. Wonder how much analysis has been done by the owners and staff into how Chesterfield, Wrexham and Stockport managed to win promotion - admittedly clubs with bigger budgets who could afford better players, but they didn't play many first halves at home as if if they were training sessions.

Outstanding performance, to shut out the top scorers so far and hardly give them a sniff second half is excellent. Gordon and TAR brilliant again and the keeper looked good, and Kairo looks so much confident now after last week, made good runs, was strong and held the ball up well. Gilmour and East a class apart too, can't remember a time when we had such a good midfield unit. Also shout out to the game management and substitutions by Jim, very astute.

Not sure why you'd want to meddle with the back 3 given their form and with a new keeper coming in. Or for that matter why you'd bench Henry, would have thought Gilmour would come in for East if anyone, but again why change it.

We're in year 1 of the three year plan and we're better than this time last year. To get promoted we'll need to splash more money and get a Mullin or Grigg or similar. Big picture feels like we're doing ok.

Thought Sassi had his best game for us today, if Nevett goes wouldn't say no to him coming back next season. Edwards showed some promise too. Hopefully the feelgood factor from this win and yesterday's statement can help to keep the majority of the squad together.

Puzzling that with John and SAJ on the bench, and that Nevett may be sold in the summer

We did similar vs Barnet and Biffos - it surely should apply that if you have a tough away game against a strong opponent, you clear your lines early on and don't give anything away

Happened in a Champs League QF last week as well - Dortmund messing about in the first few minutes at a place like Atletico Madrid. Makes you wonder what's happened to the age old no brainer 'don't give them a sniff in the first half hour and get the crowd on their backs'

He sounds like a random bloke plucked from the stands. To be fair it was funny when he said the corner that led to our goal 'killed 30 worms' on its way into the goalmouth

Not to mention the cameraman who looks like he's been on the beer this morning - sat too close, not following play and at one point wiping the screen with his hand

There was a chance before that as well to wrap it up when Gordon could have played East in. Second gritty home win in a row without playing well which is encouraging. Gilmour best player on the pitch and EEL led the back line well. Most teams will try to shut Hayes out of games now, could do with Jez finding form again and to get Ty back fit.

Seemed like a questionable decision at the time the teams were announced. Although the pitch is turning a lot already, would have thought that Leach and Ahmed supported by Root would have been a sufficient and well balanced spin attack. Was expecting the steadiness and accuracy of Robinson/Anderson to back up Wood and help to dry up the runs, particularly as Wood is injury prone and can only bowl in short bursts, and Stokes is not fit to bowl.

Wonder what's happening with the youth set up. Nevett has obviously transitioned well and quickly into the first team but Oscar Kelly, Dos Santos and Ehimamiegho, who all made their debuts last season, have been nowhere to be seen this season. You'd think the current squad and injuries situation would be an opportunity to involve them more.
