90+7 “ Attempt missed. Lyndon Dykes (Birmingham City) right footed shot from the centre of the box misses to the left. Assisted by Marc Leonard following a set piece situation.” |

I suspect not out of the goodness of their heart, by doing the right thing, but because of the good people of this board and elsewhere pointing out how ludicrous and damaging it was in the first place. |

It’s one thing to raise our game against the likes of Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland and scrap for the odd point here and there. Relegated teams do that all the time. It’s another thing to be competitive and beat the teams we should be beating (particularly at home) in order to stay up which we’ve shown in the first 15 games we’re completely unable to do. I’ll continue supporting my team to the end but I fear this is the season we drop. |

Exactly this. With three or four exceptions this team is so far off Championship quality it’s unbelievable. I watched Brentford vs Bournemouth earlier. Their players are absolutely light years ahead of ours. Let that sink in for a moment - Brentford and Bournemouth. Pep couldn’t keep this lot up. |

I had posterior tibial tendonitis in my left foot for a year, play a lot of badminton semi-competitively and had to stop for 12 months or so. Then 6 weeks ago I ruptured my achilles tendon in the same leg. Someone mentioned tight calfs and I 100% agree - I should have spend way more time stretching them out every day, as well as strengthening all my other leg muscles so the calfs aren't taking all the strain. For my tendonitis I tried acupuncture, helped a little. I found that eating a largely anti-inflammatory diet helped a lot. But ultimately you just have to rest up until it no longer flares up (have you considered a boot?). I feel for you, it's incredibly painful. |

Even with our first choice 11 out there I can't see us surviving the drop this year. League One standard throughout the team really, with one or two exceptions. Terrible summer recruitment and whoever made the decision to loan out Larkeche should be gone tomorrow. Lack of a left-back cost us the first two goals and it was always going to be uphill from there. |

Agreed, much better performance, put himself about like a good centre-forward should and pressed well. Just needs a bloody goal and I thought he had one with his second-half curler. And that first-half miss was Dykes-esque. |

First half definitely but second half he wasn't quick enough to move the ball after they went down to 10. Actually think first half he outshone 'Jobe' (wtf) plus looked a little more dangerous going forward. Has to be his best display for us and hopefully more to come, we'll need him! |

Missed opportunity for three points perhaps but with a weakened side against the top team in the division I'll take that point (and a clean sheet) all day long. We looked much more solid in midfield with Varane (my MoM) and Morgan in there. Morgan faded badly second half as you'd expect but this kid has bags of potential and even though he gave away some sloppy passes in the second half at least he was looking for a forward ball (unlike Varane). Celar's best half for us in the second half, if only that shot had crept in, you can see he's a confidence player. If (big if) we can get 3 points against Middlesborough on Tuesday then that's been a good 3 games. They had a poor result at home today so I'm not sure how Tuesday will go. |

Agreed Brian, me too. I posted on the other thread that most of our good work went through him first half (including the run and cut-back on a plate for Field) and he did really well as a makeshift left-back for much of the game, even if it nullified his forward runs. Amazing what a bit of pace, good control and a willingness to take on your man can get you in this league. |

I thought Saito was our MoM tonight. All the good things went through him first half (Field should have scored that cut-back to him) and second half he did a solid job as a makeshift left-back. Always full of running, once or twice made the wrong decision but on the whole I'd say his best game for us so far. |

Amongst the other things I’d add fitness and confidence. Second half of last season we finished games strongly, today half the team were blowing out their arses last 15. |

If you thought the first few matches were a bumpy ride wait until you see our next 5 fixtures. I love Marti to bits but we could have an awful lot of catching up to do come the end of November. |

Who was the young player who came on second half? I thought he did well, didn’t hide and showed for the ball, took it from the central defenders and looked to move it forward. |

Whoever is overseeing recruitment has to take some responsibility surely? Most of the new lads are League 1 standard at best. Pompey were younger, fitter, faster, closed us down brilliantly and wanted it more than us. The Championship is leaving us behind in terms of quality and athleticism. |
