Maresca and Mckenna had no issues navigating the Championship last season and neither had played or managed their before. Not that I'm saying I want Juric to be our manager next season..God no. Rohl ..yes please. |

Maybe it's a ruse to attract a potential buyer as it looks better on paper that's he's on the Subs bench rather than not in the squad at all. |

I'm sure Sports Republic and their player trading model were delighted with the approximate 3.5m profit they made on him. |

Honestly it's like shuffling shit, whatever way you shuffle it about you'll get the same outcome. . I'd have a go with a 4-2-3-1 Ramsadle (if fit) KWP Wellington THB (if fit or Wood) Janny B CDMs Ugochuckwu Aribo ...sigh Cams. Sulley Fernandes Dibling ...possibly Lallana?? Tall Paul. |

When we appointed Jones, Luton were 20th in the Championship . Maybe he's slightly better than League 1 tbf but for an established Premier league club struggling to survive it's almost inconceivable that even someone as clownlike as Ankerson would have thought ...."mmm he's the man for me!!" |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Thread | Sulemana . Let's get behind him. at 22:47 12 Feb 2025
From the interview he gave he makes it clear he was not trusted by Russell Martin, who I guess felt he didn't suit his playing style. For a young guy who definitely is a work in progress he struggled with the abuse from idiots on social media and the pressure of the 22m price tag. He said people have questioned his attitude and it's been made up by journalists . I wasn't a fan and last season when he did play he looked poor with little end product. Under Juric he has been revitalised and was our arguably best player (not a high bar) against Burnley. He set up the winner at ipswich and was brilliant at UTD . He still has a way to go but I reckon he can be really important for the rest of the season to get us a few wins and get past that Ferby points total. |

I think the concept that the Premier league has made football worse is a fallacy of the older fan. As Wizzler says, Brentford, Forest , Bournemouth and so on show you can compete in the top league if you have very good owners, manager, recruitment and luck. Football is massively more popular with a whole swathe of the population of the planet. ..rich and poor , old and young and both sexes...... these really are the good old days now. |

Not that I'm defending Russell's delusion that mediocrity can just turn up and outplay top class opponents. But..Arsenal are 9 points ahead of Newcastle .. |

A very subjective list. Personal memory matters alot to me in who I'd pick whilst recognising clear greats from the past like Channon, Davies and Paine. I'd have Lallana and Danny Wallace as I loved watching both them tear apart defences. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Adam Armstrong at 10:18 5 Feb 2025
For me Armstrong has literally done absolutely nothing in the Prem. I can't recall one game where he was outstanding , dangerous or any real threat . Sulemana showed against UTD that he can terrify a defence and this will lead to goals and goal chances. Onuachu can score goals with both his head and feet, he is is decent at holding up and receiving the ball centrally under pressure. His height cause defences to panic and it opens up opportunities for others as well as him to score. Both have their limitations and I suspect neither are the long term answer. Armstrong just runs about a lot but ultimately is ineffective .He lacks the strength and technique required and just gets crowded out when he attempts a shot. Why do we need to keep him and waste money on wages when it just doesn't work for him , it doesn't make sense and personally I couldn't give a monkeys about what he did at Wembley now....great at the time..thank you Adam. Premier league is ruthless . In the past we binned off Billy Sharp ho is similar to Armstrong because we were a better club then and understood he wasn't good enough and acted accordingly |

Onuachu was never really given a chance unless you count 2 or 3 starts under Selles. He now looks our best if limited option up front. Armstrong just does not cut it at this level. He's had over 80 games and 6 goals is seriously not good enough . Sulemana was never going to work under Russell Martin' possession based style. No one is saying they are our saviours , just possibly better players with attributes that work in the Premier league. Good luck to Armstrong. Hopefully he'll scores goals at a level he's proven at and come back to us next season and carry on from where he left off. |
